Baby wish: new job

I'm in the same boat. I just started a new job after my maternity leave in November. I really want to get pregnant again, but I feel guilty towards my employer... My job interview was a few days after my maternity leave ended, and I didn't mention my desire for a child. When colleagues ask about it now, I kind of dodge the question... I think I'll leave it up to fate. In your case, it also depends on the type of contract you can get. If it's a fixed-term contract or something similar, I'd say something about it now. Otherwise, they might not renew the contract if you turn out to be pregnant... Good luck in advance!

I’d skip that question.. companies aren’t allowed to ask it anyway. And I think they’re smart enough to realize that a 33-year-old woman probably wants kids at some point. They definitely take that into account. Just focus on talking about your strengths and everything else will fall into place! Good luck!

    Hi Egwene,
I just noticed that you indeed already posted a similar message. I’d be fine with it for someone else. And I’d also say, go for your career and see how things go. But just the thought makes me feel guilty. Pffff. Am I really jumping ahead of things?
They’re offering me a one-year contract now, but if they find a suitable candidate, there’s a good chance they’ll offer me a permanent position.

    Hi Mama-an
I completely understand your reasoning, but I’m afraid it would keep bothering me.

Pfff and the funny thing is, I still have an interview. I don’t even know if I’ll get the job. Hahahaha

I wouldn't know why you should talk about wanting a child during your job interview. The wish is there, okay... but you're not pregnant, so you're not keeping anything "hidden." Who says you'll be pregnant within a short period? I do hope so for you guys, though. You're jumping ahead like this, and you're acting like you're really hiding something, like being pregnant for 5 months or something, if you know what I mean.

    Hi Ruby,
You're absolutely right. I've let it go now. This was my first job application, and I've been working at my current employer for 12 years now. So pretty loyal. But the interview went super well today. I'll hear next week if I got the job, but they kind of hinted that I will. So just waiting for hopefully a new job. And hoping that a little one doesn't take too long to arrive. You don't get younger
    Thanks ladies for the advice!

Unprofessional? Hmm. Yeah, I felt that too. Still, it happened to me—my boyfriend and I had been trying for about 4.5 months, and I got laid off from my previous employer. I was hired by my current employer after just half a month, and coincidentally... a month later, I found out I was pregnant. I had tons of doubts, but we had such a big dream of having a child, and well, it would probably still take a while, RIGHT? Well, I'm happy to be pregnant, and yes, my manager was happy for me, and everything worked out in the end... but it does feel really awkward at first, of course.

But to answer your question: I don't think it adds any value to a job interview! Just do what makes you feel good, and good luck. Hopefully, you'll have a positive test in your hands soon.

You're only unavailable for a short time when you're pregnant and giving birth, compared to your whole working life with your boss, assuming you reach retirement age .
