That went faster than expected!

Phew, wow, that’s exciting!
Last Friday I found out that I’m (probably) really pregnant ! The annoying thing is that I don’t know exactly when my last period was. In October I had a 'half' period; it was a bit weird, but I’d had that before so I didn’t think much of it. On November 1st I officially stopped the pill and started taking folic acid.
Around the second week of December I suddenly lost my appetite, had some stabbing pains here and there, and mood swings (phew, I’m normally very relaxed and suddenly I was really toxic, which shocked even me). I still didn’t think much of it, attributing it to coming off the pill.
In the week of December 25th I suddenly felt really nauseous (was it all the Christmas chaos?). But no, it was different nausea. After two days I thought: I need to test! On Wednesday the 27th I took a Kruidvat test: positive. On Friday the 29th I took a Clearblue weeks indicator: Pregnant 3+. Wow.

On January 15th I had a first consultation/ultrasound with the midwife. I hope she can then see and tell me roughly how far along I am. Especially because I really have no idea and I’d really like some clarity.
To be honest, it went faster than I thought/hoped! I’m the type who really likes to think things through and prepare well. I feel caught off guard but I’m also really curious. Maybe it’s better that I didn’t have to think too much about it; I’ll have plenty of time for that in the coming period
Once I know how far along I am, I’ll post in the right subforum for the right due date month.

Oh how lovely!!! Congratulations. At your first ultrasound they tell you how far along you are. Really exciting. Is this your first?

Haha you have plenty of time to prepare. It goes pretty fast but once you're in the swing of things you'll have everything sorted in no time. You won't be able to wait until you finally hold him (I feel the same now. I'm 37 weeks). Wishing you lots of success

Yes, my first! So I can't wait for the 15th, it's dragging on!
Stay a bit grounded about it though (it's my nature), my boyfriend is really super enthusiastic, so sweet. I'm at work now (he's self-employed and works from home) and he just messaged that he's already planned out all the menus with the right combinations for me etc etc. Sweet that he's getting so involved. Ironically, I'm trying to rein him in a bit, I'm so grounded that I only really believe everything is OK after that first scan and after the first trimester is over. He seems more enthusiastic than I am right now, weird right? Haha.
Good luck with those final steps!

Haha, I know that feeling. I had it too. I really wanted to get pregnant, and once it finally happened, I thought I’d only be 100% happy after the first ultrasound. That ultrasound was at 12 weeks. I think if something serious were going on, they wouldn’t wait until week 15. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you. I really hope for the best. Haha, thanks so much. From me, he can come anytime now.

Based on my story, the midwife now thinks I'm 6 weeks along. That's why the ultrasound is scheduled for the 15th, because at 8 weeks there's definitely something to see. But it's possible I'm already further along. Or maybe just really high hCG levels and perhaps pregnant with twins, haha! My mother-in-law has been saying for ages that she has a feeling I'll have twins someday.

Except for my best friend (who's now 30 weeks pregnant herself) and my boyfriend's best friend, no one else knows yet. And I'm happy to keep it that way until we hit 12 weeks. I have no problem keeping it a secret from the rest for now.

I had my ultrasound at 12 weeks too, that's when you could hear the little heartbeat. With me they knew it earlier but my man was impatient hahaha. Next time I'll keep it quiet. Exciting for the 15th let me knowww
