concentration at work is dropping

Hi, I'm dealing with this too.
I'm still working half-days right now, and in about 4 weeks I'm stopping, but maybe due to health issues I'll have to stop earlier than planned.

I find that really relatable. I'm also doing a lot less at work and it doesn't bother me as much :-)

I was planning to stop at 36 weeks, but maybe I'll stop even earlier!

    Yes, I did too!
I stopped at 36 weeks and it was sooo nice
I really couldn't wait to not have to do anything anymore

Honestly, I'm really glad I can work and am able to do so; I don't even want to think about sitting at home all day already.
I work with elderly people with dementia, and it's genuinely fun, a nice distraction, and fulfilling.
But I've realized that I've been working too hard for over 20 years (!). Now I'm slowing things down and noticing that if I don't finish everything, it just carries over to the next shift.
No big deal at all (well, not everything can be left behind, of course, but I know my responsibilities).
I should also mention that I have amazing colleagues who help me out a lot and don't mind at all when I take a break to sit with the residents for about 15 minutes with a cup of coffee/tea/water.

I feel physically fine and mentally great when I'm at work.
I'm aware that I'm lucky to have this opportunity and I'm signing up to keep working until week 34!

    Hi girls,
I really hope you can and are allowed to keep working until week 34 here. Unfortunately, I've already been working half-days since week 24! I'm hoping to keep the half-days going for another 4 weeks because I don't like being at home without something to do!

    Love,

Yeah, imagine that, then I’d have to go knitting or something, bleh, that’s not for me.
Let me just stroll around and take care of things!!

    Hi Katie,
So relatable! I'm 26 weeks this week and I can also concentrate less at work, and I'm not as driven as I used to be.
If I don't get it done today, I'll do it tomorrow. Weird how pregnancy affects you.
I work until a week before my due date, if everything goes well, of course. So I still have a few months to go...
But some days I wouldn't mind staying home at all!

Hi Vanessa, well, I totally get it. I'm 31 weeks now and honestly, I've got very little motivation because it's getting closer and closer. I'm lucky that I can work from home, so I can give in to it a little bit sometimes-) Up to week 30, everything was fine for me—lots of energy and no complaints. I shouldn't complain now either, I have to say, but I do get a lot of hard contractions. I used to always say I'd work until a week before my due date. Now I'm starting to seriously doubt if I even want to do that. You also have to prepare yourself mentally, of course. Or just watch a movie during the day and flop onto the couch is lovely, especially when you know you won't be able to do that anymore with such a little one! hi hi, greetings Nancy

    Hi Katie,
Glad to hear I'm not the only one then ;-)
I still have some vacation days left to take this year, but still.
I'll probably look at it week by week, and indeed, if it doesn't work out anymore, it'll be better for myself + for the baby to maybe stop working a bit earlier.

I'm starting to get more and more amazed by the differences between Belgium and the Netherlands! A week before the due date... That's not even legally possible in the Netherlands!

I work until 36 weeks and have three weeks of summer vacation before that. I'm already looking forward to it! Hopefully, I'll still be feeling good by then! ;-)
