If you're expecting twins, do you hear two heartbeats then? (At the GP)

Hi ladies,

I'm almost 7 weeks pregnant, going to the doctor for the first time next week. I've had three pregnancies before but have never experienced so many symptoms (so nauseous, such sore breasts, so tired, and a lot of pain from my 'ligaments'! In my previous pregnancies, I didn't have any of this!

I know I don't know for sure, but I'm starting to think it might be twins?

What are your experiences with this? And if you go to the doctor, can you hear two heartbeats with a twin pregnancy?

Thanks!

Currently 23 weeks pregnant with twins. At the first appointment with the midwife, they saw 2 gestational sacs and 2 beating hearts. That was at 7+3.
By the way, I hardly had any symptoms!

Hi Flamingo! Thanks for your reply! Congrats!!!! Wow!!
Unfortunately, I don't have an ultrasound next week, just a first appointment. But hopefully, I'll be able to find out more then.

Do you have double pregnancy symptoms too?

    Best!

Strange that you don't have an ultrasound right away... otherwise you wouldn't find out if everything is okay, to put it bluntly. ....
No, I have absolutely no double complaints. Fortunately, I'm getting through this whistling so far.

Yeah, weird!!! Hope I get one right away haha! The dating scan is already scheduled, but I didn't know you sometimes get an ultrasound right away at the first visit with the midwife??

Luckily, everything's been going well so far!!! Hopefully it stays that way!!

Yes, I thought so, since the timeline can always vary...
But exciting! Good luck with waiting for your first appointment! Let me know when you have the results.

    Hi.
I'm exactly 8 weeks pregnant with twins today. My breasts are quite painful and I've been feeling nauseous all day... but this is my first pregnancy, so I can't really judge whether this is normal for me or not... I also heard two beautiful heartbeats and we're allowed to go back on September 12th to admire the little ones... they also pricked me for hCG and it was quite high... maybe you can ask your GP if you're allowed to get a blood test.
    Good luck on Monday!!!

Hi Mieke!! Congratulations!!! Wow!! Yeah, those symptoms are pretty intense!! Exciting, September 12th!! I have my first ultrasound on September 11th! Funny!! Good luck in advance, and I'll ask my GP on Monday!! Thanks for your reply!!

What a coincidence! I wish you success for the 11th in advance. But I assume you'll post a message on Monday as well?

    Hi ladies,
Congratulations on your special pregnancy! I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant with twins... It's such a unique experience, enjoy it!
I have to be honest though, I'm counting down the days. It's really quite tough right now. Good luck with your ultrasounds!

Ladies, just back from the UK, full of anticipation. Unfortunately, no scan yet, have to wait until 11/9. Haven't heard the heartbeat either because I'm only 7 weeks pregnant, they don't do that yet.

So back to having patience... How are things for you guys?

Jennifer! Congratulations!! Wow, I can imagine it's really tough!! Are you planning to give birth naturally?
  15. Jennifer Guest #16

That's the intention. They're both already head down, and one is already right between the pelvis. I'm really curious about the birth. These are our first babies. And yours?
  16. Happy mieke #17

The first ones for us too.
Hope everything goes smoothly for you!!

Here’s the first one for me too. Do they let you go until labor starts, or do they induce you early? I’m already 25 weeks again, so it’s getting more and more exciting. We still don’t know what it’s going to be either....
  18. Jennifer Guest #19

Oh that's extra exciting, Flamingo! Good job dealing with so many ultrasounds.
They're talking about inducing between 37/38 weeks if they don't come on their own. I hope they do come on their own. Let's wait and see! Are they already in a good position for you, Flamingo?

Had another check-up today at 11 am, after 4 weeks, so I’m really curious how they’re doing and what the position is.
