brown discharge / five weeks pregnant

Hi everyone,

I was hugely surprised a few weeks ago; a positive pregnancy test! Everything is still very early, and tomorrow I would be five weeks, calculated from the first day of my last period.

I just got home from work and noticed yellow/light brown discharge when wiping. I was quite startled. It's not flowing out, but it's in my vagina. My discharge remains brown. I'm also feeling my belly, but I'm not sure if it's cramps.

I'm afraid something might be wrong. Does anyone recognize this?

Thanks for reading

Unfortunately, I've experienced something like this before. It ended up being a miscarriage for me. From the very beginning, I had brown discharge. But I know that Knuffel on the forum has had bleeding with every pregnancy and is now happily pregnant with her third little one.

Believe that your chance of everything being okay is 50% when there's bleeding.

Otherwise, maybe call your midwife? I had an ultrasound at 5 weeks. They can't see much yet, but at least something.

Thanks for your reply. I've been reading all sorts of things and come across so much. Meanwhile, the brown discharge has stopped. I don't have any red or bright red blood.
I'm indeed wondering if it's advisable to call a midwife. It's our first pregnancy, and we're not sure how to handle this or whether you can just call a practice about it.
I strongly feel like doing a test tomorrow, but apparently, this doesn't say much because hcg is already in your body anyway..
Since it'll be five weeks tomorrow, we haven't told anyone yet that we're pregnant, so we can't talk to anyone about it either. It's nice that I can at least share my story here..

I can relate to your story. We didn’t tell anyone either, and not even after the miscarriage.
You can just call your midwife. No problem at all. You can report your worries and brown discharge, and ask if they can check if everything is okay. You can also schedule an intake appointment right away.
Being pregnant is so exciting. My first time was so nerve-wracking that now I say I don’t want to do it again. But yeah, after a miscarriage, you really want to welcome a little one. So every month we’re crossing our fingers.

    I'll be rooting for you!
Unfortunately, it has turned out to be a miscarriage. I'm losing pink/red blood and having severe abdominal cramps.

Oh sweetheart. Wishing you lots of strength and try to talk kindly to yourself. I didn't do that myself and it feels like a stone around my neck now. Also take physical rest!

Strength, okay. I had the same thing. On Monday, the heartbeat stopped. I also started having light bleeding.

How are you doing with your Kimberly now? How far along were you? I'm thinking of you.
It seems like the hCG is gone from my body, judging by a pregnancy test. It's still a weird feeling, though. I still often look at the photo of my Clearblue test where it said 'pregnant' not so long ago.

It's going okay. In the morning I feel really depressed, but the rest of the day I manage pretty well. I'm trying to look forward to things. I was 6 weeks + 5 days.
    And how are you?

Same as you, Kimberly. Every morning I wake up and feel this emptiness. Even though it was such a short pregnancy, the picture felt complete, you know. I was so happy. Now that special feeling is gone.

We're also looking ahead, you said it well! Try not to read too many negative stories or let them get into my head, but still. And somewhere I'm glad we didn't tell anyone when we were just pregnant. Because I kind of feel ashamed, I notice.

    Good night
