Hi ladies,
How was your experience with the NIPT test?
Where did you get it done?
What were the costs?
Did you also find out the gender?

    Hi,

My experience with the NIPT test was good. I did it on Wednesday, April 26th in Boxmeer, and got the results on Monday evening from the midwife. The cost was €175, but if you're insured with CZ, you can ask for reimbursement if it's medically necessary. You do have to pay upfront, though. We weren't told the gender either; we'll find that out at the 20-week ultrasound.

Maybe not exactly the answer you were looking for. But we consciously chose not to do the test. I think you first need to figure out for yourself: what does the test and its result mean to me? And what are you considering if something negative is found?
If you're not open to abortion, you'll be carrying around stress for the entire pregnancy because your child might have something abnormal. That's not beneficial for either you or the baby.
Physical abnormalities are often already visible on an ultrasound. And even if it's Down syndrome, it doesn't necessarily mean your child will suffer from it or that you'll notice anything.
Well, those were our thoughts. I understand that people want certainty. But think a step ahead.
At the midwife's office, they kind of talked us into why we had to do it. But the downsides weren't mentioned.
Hopefully, people can make a sensible choice for themselves.
