Working in the hospital and pregnancy wish

I work in the hospital and have decided with my partner to start trying for a baby. Now I’m wondering if I need to take certain work-related things into account even before I’m pregnant, and what I should keep in mind once I am pregnant.

You can probably tell what your role is in the hospital, I guess. I had to stop at 16 weeks because there were too many risks involved. By the way, this is true for every pregnant woman in our hospital!

I'm a pediatric nurse at a peripheral hospital, and you?

Hmm, you'll be working with kids, so I fear you'll have to stop soon... Geriatric nurse also in peripheral hospital.

Do you mean completely stop? I don't have any pregnant colleagues right now either, so I can't even peek -,- that's pretty tricky then

    Hi,
I also work as a pediatric nurse and I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant. You need to be careful with radioactive radiation if, for example, you have to accompany a child who needs to get X-rays done—you shouldn't come into contact with cytostatics and it's better not to care for such a child due to infectious excreta. Pay extra attention to hygiene, safety regulations, and wear gloves more often. Also, be cautious with certain highly contagious viruses and real childhood illnesses like sixth disease, etc. When you're pregnant, you'll receive instructions on lifting, heavy work, breaks, etc. Working is currently hard for me; I've reduced my hours from full-time, being pregnant and working in healthcare is quite tough, but you can definitely keep doing your job—just make sure to take good care of yourself and the baby.
    Good luck!

Just call the hospital hygienist! They know a lot too!
