I just keep losing weight

Kaala
I'm 9 weeks pregnant now, with morning sickness starting around the end of week 4/beginning of week 5, and it's driving me a bit crazy.
From Monday onwards, I have to vomit every time I get up, but nothing ever comes out (I won't go into details). Otherwise, I ate quite a lot until this week (and not so healthily because I'd gag at healthy food and feel worse), but still, I haven't gained a single gram. No, I'm actually losing weight. I've lost 1.5 kilos in a week now, and is that too much? Especially since I only vomit once a day (and it's not even food).

Any tips?

I read something about ginger, but what exactly do you need to ask Olivia-Anna, she knows it exactly. There's also a forum dedicated to it, otherwise you'll have to look it up...

Yeah, I read online and on other forums that ginger (like in tea, cookies, etc.) is good for nausea.

Hi Kaala, good news: it's not as harmful as you think. As long as it doesn't last for months. Your baby is definitely getting enough nutrients, so don't worry about that!

Eat small amounts frequently and make sure it's really healthy. Ginger or lemon can indeed help. Keep drinking lots of fluids, in small sips. Sometimes vitamin B6 can also help with nausea.

Good luck, girl, I know all about it!

    Hi Kaala,
During my first pregnancies, especially with my daughter, I lost about 5 to 6 kg in the beginning. I was vomiting a lot. Everything came back up, including the water, nothing helped.
I ended up in the hospital for both of them due to dehydration, but both babies were completely unaffected! My daughter is now 12, my son is 11. They both weighed about 3.5 kg and were about 50 cm at birth!
With my current pregnancy (12 weeks), I'm also very nauseous, but I'm vomiting less food. I've gained 1 kg now. (Ginger does help, as does meclozine (Agirax or Postafen : can't do any harm, but do ask your doctor).
Another useful tip: eat ginger cookies (honey cake, gingerbread) before getting out of bed, while still lying in bed. This can prevent bile and stomach acid from accumulating in your stomach, which means you're less likely to vomit in the morning (on an empty stomach).
So no need to worry at all, everything will be fine!!!
    Many greetings,
    Evelyn

I did indeed bring some candied ginger cubes in my handbag and (I think partly because of that) rarely had problems with nausea.

Whenever I felt it starting to come on, I'd take a cube and it would just fade away!

Also drink fresh ginger tea in the morning, just cut off a piece about a centimeter long and add enough sugar to it.. you can also throw it into regular tea.
Camille is also very good! But works a bit slower..

Losing weight in the beginning isn't strange, you know.. Just like not having much of an appetite, I struggle with that too.
If it really takes too long I'd mention it, it's not something you should just endure..
    Greetings!!
