Week overdue, only 2 days of period

Hi everyone!
I hope I put my question in the right category.
Anyway, I'll give an explanation first.
My boyfriend and I are trying to get pregnant. About 5 months ago I stopped taking the pill.
I always took the pill continuously, without a break (I know, not good!), because I really hate having my period. Because I never took a break, my cycle was a bit off.
After stopping the pill it took two days until I got my period. The next time I was a week late. The two times after that I was due on a Friday, got my period on Monday and it stopped on Thursday. My cycle had found itself again.
But this month... I was due on Friday February 10. Given the last periods I would get my period on Monday.
That didn't happen. Not on Tuesday, not on Wednesday. On Thursday I took a test anyway just to be sure. It was negative. So just a few days late.
But not on Friday either. Not on Saturday. I had ordered new tests online that would arrive on Monday so I wanted to try those because I had read that many people for example had a negative result on day 4 late but a positive result on day 6 late.
Now I got my period last Sunday after all. Mild stomach cramps, not as bad as usual. There was also less blood than usual. I use tampons, now I changed them often on Sunday because I wanted to know how heavy the flow was. On Monday morning I used a new tampon and actually I just completely forgot about it for the rest of the day. I didn't have any stomach issues. When I took the tampon out in the evening there wasn't much blood on it either. At least not as much as I would have expected on the second day without changing it all day. I then used a new tampon and took it out this morning. This one was even clean white in many places. Now on the third day I'm just wearing a pantyliner, but there's no more blood coming out.
Now my question is: How come I'm 6 days late, and then only have 1 day of normal flow?
Could it be that I'm pregnant but my body hasn't realized it yet?
I find it very annoying, it eats you up. We really want a baby, so it's always a disappointment when you get your period again. But this month is really weird.
Does anyone have experience with this?
Do you maybe know an answer how my situation came about?
I haven't lost or gained weight. I haven't had any stress either (not more than usual hehe). I don't smoke, don't drink alcohol or use drugs.

Looking forward to your answers!
Thanks in advance!

Kind regards, Anna

I think you're still dealing with postpartum recovery and your cycle was a bit later this time. It can sometimes take up to a year.

It does sound like you're still coming off the pill.

Also, having regular cycles isn't normal for everyone, even if you've never used the pill. I didn't use the pill until I was 16, and then I sometimes got my period after 3 weeks, sometimes after 6. The regularity you had from years of pill use isn't necessarily what you'll have now. Your body changes over the years. (After using the pill for 15 years, I was fairly regular after stopping.)

But there is a small chance you are pregnant, and it was just implantation bleeding. To be sure, you can take a test every week until you get your period again.

    Hi Anna,

I'm in the same boat right now, 7 weeks along, 4 days overdue, and having really weird period-like symptoms, but only for 2 days and much less than usual, no cramps or anything. I also had an IUD before and didn't take the pill.

So I'm really curious to know what happened in your case! Did you end up being pregnant after all, or did you unfortunately get your period? We really want a baby too, so the uncertainty is driving me crazy.

    Best,
    Marije

    Hi, my name is Michelle.
My partner and I are also trying to conceive after two miscarriages.
I was just 6 days late, had light bleeding for 2 days, and then nothing more... but the test is negative again. Can someone tell me how this is possible? I've been off the pill for 2.5 years.

    Kind regards, Michelle
