5 weeks pregnant and no more tummy pain

Hi everyone,

I'm 5 weeks pregnant with our first baby and have had stomach pain/cramps every day for over a week (sometimes pretty severe). However, since yesterday afternoon I haven't had any pain at all, not even last night (normally I wake up in pain). My nipples also hurt less than usual. I'm reading different things online that contradict each other, and I'm quite worried... I don't want to panic, but it's just weird when symptoms suddenly disappear. Has anyone experienced this? My first ultrasound isn't until September 17th, so it's still very far away.

Best,
Britt

Hi Brit, it could be that your body is used to the extra hormones and is now stabilizing again. On the other hand, something might have gone wrong. I think the chance of the first scenario is much greater.
I'd start by calling your midwife. I don't know if they have an ultrasound machine themselves, but otherwise, they might be able to take a quick look. You can always consult with them.

If you're really worried, you should definitely call your midwife. They're there for you!

I only had some cramps and felt a bit nauseous during the first week, and nothing more after that.
So don't worry too much, okay!!
If something had gone wrong, the cramps would have gotten worse, not stopped.
This seems like a good sign to me!!

    Hey Britt,

I'm 8 weeks and 6 days pregnant myself now.
I had it in the beginning too..
And had to get used to it stopping all of a sudden.

Sore/tender breasts and nipples are still present for me.
But I had them for 1 week.
Then for 4 days I had a little sting now and then.

    Hugs

    hey britt
it's all really unpleasant. but due to your hormones, it's quite possible that you won't have any symptoms anymore at this point. so much is happening in your body right now.
you're 5 weeks pregnant now, and there's no point in asking for an ultrasound because there's no heartbeat yet. all they'll do is take blood and check if your hcg has risen. :s
you could just do that at your GP's office too. if you're still this anxious next week, I'd just go to the ER if you can't get in touch with your OB/GYN/midwife.

    greetings, Liena

Hi Britt. I can imagine it’s a bit scary, but as far as I know, if something goes wrong, it actually hurts a lot and there’s usually bleeding in the end? I’m also pregnant with my first baby right now. In the beginning, I had a lot of cramps in my belly, sometimes quite severe, and I thought, oh no, surely nothing is wrong. (I was on vacation, just got back.) I had promised myself that as long as there was no bleeding, everything would be fine. Now, I’m 9 weeks pregnant tomorrow, and I hardly have any cramps anymore! I still have sensitive breasts/nipples, but not all the time. I can imagine it feels pretty weird if you suddenly don’t feel anything anymore, but I don’t think you need to worry too much!

If you really don’t trust it, or if you just keep feeling uneasy, always call your midwife—they’re there for that reason

    Good luck!

    Hi everyone!
First of all, thank you for the encouraging words
I just went to see another OB-GYN (a friend of my dad's, handy) because I'm leaving on a trip next week and I wanted to feel reassured.
Turns out: I'm now 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant with one healthy baby who's already 2.5 mm and has a heartbeat! Everything's perfectly fine!

Yay!!! That must have been such a relief for you!! Seeing the little heart beating so fast is just wonderful!! I had the same experience during my first ultrasound (9 weeks). It's so nice to see. I'm really happy for you. You can now really enjoy it

Today was also a good day, at least at first. A day without nausea, and I even ate well!

Unfortunately, I started losing blood with abdominal pain yesterday. I went to the emergency ultrasound today (my second ultrasound was scheduled for Monday), and the baby is indeed gone 1 cm big, so about 7 weeks old, and has been deceased for a while now. Now it's waiting for it to pass, and hoping that it works out quickly again and that nothing is wrong with that baby either I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you and hope that everything stays okay for all of you!

    @Britt,
that's really tough for you. You were looking forward to it, and then something happens that you wouldn't wish on anyone! I hope you get pregnant again soon, I'm rooting for you!
    xx

Oh that's terrible for you!! Especially since you want it so much of course..

May I give you some good advice: Give yourself time to grieve!!!
If necessary, get a photo of an ultrasound you had in a nice frame or keep the test you did..
It's not nothing what you're going through right now and many outsiders might be too light about it..
Are many people aware of your pregnancy?

Make sure you're really ready for a second attempt.
    Lots of strength!!

Oh Britt, that's so sad..... I wish you both lots of strength with this loss and agree with Olivia-Anna's message above.

    Kind regards, Dani
