NIPT

I'm really curious about your experiences with the NIPT test... Where did you go? How quickly did you get the results?
We went to Brussels yesterday and now we're waiting for the results.
We were helped in a friendly manner and they were very flexible in making appointments, even though they normally have fixed days. Good explanation beforehand and quick help with the blood draw. The only thing to keep in mind is the route you take in hospital 752 (it's very large) and parking was also a bit tricky to find. They're currently doing work on the hospital/parking area.

    Hey Krulletje,
We also had a NIPT test done. At the local hospital, I could just go to the lab for a blood draw, and then my blood was sent to Gent afterward. I found it amazing how much they can figure out about the baby from my blood!
A few weeks later, I got the results of the test. It said that no abnormalities were found and that if I wanted to know the gender, I could call the gynecologist for that :-)

    Hey Krulletje
I'm also going to have the NIPT done.
I think it can be done from week 11 onwards. I can also have the blood drawn at my own hospital.

We also had a NIPT test done in Leuven. We're still waiting for the results. They said it could take anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks. But the gynecologist promised to call as soon as she gets the results, since she usually sees them a bit faster. So starting tomorrow, I'll make sure to keep my phone close by everywhere I go ;-).

Oooh ladies, exciting, huh.. nothing here yet, I hope they come quickly. Do you want to know the gender, Aleera?

I always thought I wouldn't be able to wait to find out
When the letter arrived, I thought it would say right away, so I kept it unopened. But I had already called the gynecologist to check if everything was okay once the results came in. The baby wasn't in the right position for the nuchal translucency scan at 12 weeks, so she said it looked okay and that a nasal bone was present, which is also reassuring. My boyfriend wanted to be absolutely sure, hence the NIPT test.
She reassured me that everything was fine, and at the next ultrasound at 17 weeks, we saw it was a girl! It became really special because it's the first grandchild for my parents, and they were there to discover it together. Such a big love!!
Once home, I opened the letter and saw that no gender was mentioned.
Would you like to know? And may I ask why you chose the test?

We're both super curious about the gender, so we want to know for sure.
We wanted to do NIPT just to be absolutely certain. Everything looked good on the ultrasound (nuchal translucency was 1mm and there was a nasal bone). But then we'd feel more at ease.

We'd also really like to know the gender—I'm super curious about these kinds of things hahaha. And it's also pretty practical because then you can buy stuff specifically. I notice that a lot of things in stores are still pink or blue. There's not much that works for both.
We decided to do the test for extra certainty. With the combined test, it was just a probability calculation. The NIPT is much more accurate.
    No news here yet.
