Hi... are there any other single moms here? I'm curious how you all handle everything and how you manage it. I've been pregnant for a few weeks now, it's all so exciting! The person I'm pregnant with knows and is super happy too! But unfortunately, he has a wife and kids. So sadly, I'll have to do everything on my own. Don't worry... I'll manage it all!

Don't get me wrong, but why start something with a married man who has kids? The chances are high that you'll end up alone. That man is completely wrong for choosing to cheat; to me, that makes him unreliable.

Anyway, it's nice that you're happy and excited about your pregnancy. I hope your pregnancy goes well and that you get a lovely baby. I hope you get lots of support from your family and friends so you're not alone. And I hope the dad pays child support, since he's obligated to do so. If you make a life of it, you're also financially responsible for it. Extra income to take care of your child will definitely come in handy. Also, check what allowances you're entitled to.

You have no idea what you're getting into! So wrong, both of you. If the other woman doesn't know yet, believe me, that won't last long. How you got into it, you'll get out of it too! A child isn't just something. It's HARD WORK, 24/7. You're choosing to let a child be born into such a situation. I find this very selfish. Just like your secret relationship. Wishing you lots of success, because you're going to need it.

I just don't know what to say, but regardless of my opinion, it's all about the little one from now on, who didn't ask for this situation.
I'm really curious how things are going, and if you need help, know that there are agencies for that. You can always contact a social worker, possibly through the municipality.

There are also many agencies and charities that help children, and parents with children who have little, and they really do fantastic work. An example is the Stichting Kinderen met Minder, they're not super well-known yet but they do a huge amount.
I hope you find this helpful.

    Congratulations!
Good luck, and there are more single mothers who are doing this consciously. You'll definitely get through this!

I was in a similar situation a few years ago when I accidentally got pregnant and the father disappeared. A good friend suggested looking for a gay co-father for support, which I did through the usual pages (meerdangewenst & co) and it was the best decision. He helped me through the pregnancy, was there after the birth and my son, now a toddler, spends a lot of time with him and loves his co-father very much.

Well, mom-trouble, you're already assuming that there will be all sorts of shortages here. I'm also a single mom. I don't need social services or 'children with less'. I just work and pay my mortgage, car, and everything my little one needs from that. Unlike my neighbors who fight each other over who gets to run the show. More drinking than working, and the kid is looked after by a weekend foster family or something.
Having a child with your lover also seems like not the most ideal starting situation to me. But to immediately assume that there will be a lack of all sorts of things strikes me as a nasty attitude.
