When do parents tell, and employer?

Helllup! My partner and I have known for a week that we're pregnant, probably 5 or 6 weeks along. The first ultrasound isn't until the 9th week. On the one hand, we want to share this news with our closest family, but can we ask them to keep it quiet from the outside world until the 12th or 13th week? That's when we plan to inform our employers. Doubting............
How did you guys handle this? We don't know what to do.

    Hey mom-to-be!

We told our parents anyway. Because what if you have a miscarriage? I want to have support from several people, and I want them to understand what's going on!

We're going to tell the world after the first ultrasound. Some think that's too early, but we both agree that it feels right to do it this way!

So just do what feels right for you! I found it such a relief when I could tell people. Good luck with your choice, and remember that there's no wrong decision—just do what feels right for you.

I told my parents the day after the test. I was 5 or 6 weeks pregnant then, I think. I told my employer two weeks later. I suddenly got sick a lot, couldn't keep anything down, so I just told them.

I told my parents, in-laws, their siblings, and everyone within a week. They all kept it secret until the 12th week. I think that’s pretty normal if you choose to tell your parents early. But if your parents know your employer and see them often, it might be hard for them. For my second pregnancy, I actually told my manager at 9 weeks. It was starting to show anyway, and I didn’t want him to guess.
