Hi everyone!
I'm also in my 1st trimester of pregnancy. How long? I don't know.
I had a miscarriage in November, although I was only briefly pregnant and my period was a bit late... that way you can check earlier but whatever. I had a positive test in hand which turned out wrong after a few days. The bleeding lasted about 3-4 days and after that I didn't get another period.
On the 17th of the month I got symptoms of sore breasts.. I ignored this because this is always the case before my period. Because it lasted longer now and my period didn't start (I usually menstruate between the 17th and 20th) irregular cycle. So on December 22 I took a test. Clear blue digital.
This gave 1-2 weeks. I called the midwife in Jan. And because this is my 8th pregnancy and I have 1 healthy son from it, I was allowed to come early.
On January 11 I had an appointment.
They took my bleeding in Nov as the 1st day of the last period and therefore thought Jan 11 was correct. There should be something to see on the ultrasound then. I went there hopeful. Actually without worries because I have sore breasts and am tired.... on the ultrasound a gestational sac was seen with a size of 7.3 mm. (According to the internet this corresponds to a pregnancy of 5 weeks) no embryo was seen. No yolk sac. The midwife told me.... either the pregnancy is very early or it's bad news again. On Jan 17 I have to come back. I try to stay calm and find distraction but I'm having trouble with it.. She reacted quite worriedly to the fact that no yolk sac was visible. Still she said at the end don't lose all hope but keep in mind that this could be wrong... grrrrrr. Bad week ahead.
How are you, people who have already had a 1st ultrasound?

Oh my, that's really tough, having so many miscarriages I understand your worries! I had a miscarriage in August at 9 weeks. The fetus measured 5.5 weeks on the ultrasound, and there was no embryo visible. So it could have gone either way for me—early pregnancy or not a viable one. I knew from myself that I couldn't have been fertilized just 4 weeks prior because I'd already had a positive test by then. So I prepared myself for the worst, with a little bit of hope. Two days after the ultrasound, I unfortunately had the miscarriage. Now I'm pregnant again and have had one good ultrasound with a beating heart. My second one is on January 19th, and I still don't feel completely at ease. I think you'll carry those worries with you through every pregnancy because of the times it went wrong.

Lots of strength, and try to find some distraction until the next ultrasound. And feel free to chat here if you want to talk about your baby. Let us know how it goes?

    Love, xx

Hey hi. Thanks for your reply, it's nice to read some recognition... Your experience from last August seems so similar to mine. The only thing is, I really have no idea how far along I am, and because of that, I still have a tiny bit of hope. I got a positive test on December 22nd, and less than 3 weeks later, I was already at the GP. The chance that I might be 5 or 5.5 weeks pregnant is also quite possible. Without those "gift weeks" then... I completely don't get those gift weeks haha. I've naturally read myself silly on the internet, and I read quite a few positive stories there about early pregnancies and empty gestational sacs. I'm keeping a miscarriage in mind though, because I don't want to get a hard blow on Jan 17th... Still, those positive stories help me get through the week a bit! I have to work quite a bit this weekend and next week, and I'm fine with that. Otherwise, I'd just hang on the couch and worry, even though I know it's not good... my phone and then back on the internet. The days drag on like this. Every day I check and feel my breasts to see if they're still sore and big... and every time I notice nothing has changed, I sigh with relief. Sickly obsessed.
It's so nice that you had a good ultrasound. How many weeks were you at when you had it? And how are you feeling otherwise? Can you let go of the miscarriage fear or are you still quite insecure...
I hope you can enjoy it!!!!! It's so special...
Of course, I'll leave a message on the 17th, I'm hoping so much for some positive news. I'm starting to lose a bit of hope. My son is almost 7 now, and I'd really like to give him a sister or brother.
    Xxxx
