Blood

Hi lovely people,
Last Sunday I had a little bit of blood, like I was about to get my period when I wiped after peeing. Nothing else. Today again twice in a row, then nothing more. Still, just to be safe, I called the midwife. Mainly because on the internet I only find that this happens more often, but not when you should actually start worrying.
The midwife explained that if you also have cramps and pain in your belly, and it feels like you're about to get your period, that's a reason to be concerned. Also if it lasts longer. If it's just occasionally when wiping, there's usually no reason to worry.
Fortunately, she did arrange for my ultrasound next Thursday to be moved to this afternoon. More to reassure me and to play it safe. She doesn't expect any abnormalities.
I'm still a bit tense. But I already was. I think I'll only feel at ease once I've heard the heartbeat and the doctors tell me everything's okay.
I'll let you know this afternoon after the ultrasound how it went and whether there really was no cause for concern.

    @Wientje,
Do you know already what's nice that they make some time for you. Let us know how you and your baby are doing???

    Love Ju

    Hi Wientje,

Good luck, girl. We're all crossing our fingers for you here.

I had this during my previous pregnancy too, in week 9 and week 14. Everything was fine then, and I hope it is for you as well!

    Best, Dani

Thank you all for the good luck wishes!
I just saw the little heart beating. My little one isn't very photogenic and looks quite ugly, still looking very much like a shrimp... But it's alive! And I'm so happy about it.
I'm glad the midwife immediately moved up the appointment, even though she thought there was nothing wrong... It's still a bit more reassuring.

That's some good news! Haha and they'll turn out fine anyway.

    Hi Wientje,

    Awesome girl, what great news!!
And, our shrimp is also doing well, haha

    @Wientje,
It's great to hear that your little one is doing so well. And luckily, it's not just a shrimp anymore, and everything will be fine with your boy or girl in there. I'm happy for you both.

    Love, Ju

Hi Wientje, so nothing was wrong after all! Good!!
I had that twice too (a little bit of blood), but it turned out to be a urinary tract infection,
which came out with my urine, hence...

We used to call our little one "Scampie'tje"

    Hi ladies

@ Wientje: I'm so happy for you that everything is okay!

I've also had bleeding twice during this pregnancy. At 7 weeks and at 8 weeks, and then regular brown spotting. I actually still have that (I'm now 9.5 weeks pregnant). That bleeding at 7 weeks was quite a panic. We were on holiday in South France and had to go to the hospital there. They helped us really well, did an ultrasound and the little heart was beating. Such a relief!
I was especially scared because I had a miscarriage last year and thought it was happening again... but luckily not. I have no idea why I lost blood, maybe a burst blood vessel.

Now I'm really nauseous, not fun, but a good sign.

With my first two kids (now 12 and 10 years old) I was also very sick. Anyone experienced with severe nausea?

    Best, Evelyn

    Hi Evelyn,

I do have quite the nausea too. I basically have to eat small bites all day through, every 3 hours or so, then it's fine. I can't really do sports, because then I get nauseous... And I'm someone who has to move a lot to keep my weight in check...

The funny thing about this nausea is that my body somehow signals that it's okay and that I can just eat. I'm lucky I don't have to throw up either.

Hi Wientje and everyone else of course

Nausea is actually a good sign, but really very unpleasant!
During my previous pregnancies (except the last one which ended in a miscarriage at 7 weeks, due to no heartbeat), I was so nauseous and had to vomit so often that hospitalization was necessary.
Now I've been able to keep it under control for a long time, with the classic remedies: regularly eating small bites, walking in the fresh air... but since this week I have to vomit again, I hope it doesn't get as bad this time!
The GP visited yesterday and prescribed Postadoxine suppositories to be compounded at the pharmacy, since this medicine no longer exists, but is very safe. It didn't bring enough for the manufacturer...
I hope I can manage with this, because I'm incapable of doing anything and have to go back to work tomorrow. The summer vacation is over :-(
I normally like to work, but under these circumstances...

    Can you function normally?

    Many greetings

    Evelyn

A really good tip for nausea is ginger tea and ginger candies!!
Thanks to that, I hardly ever had any nausea!!
I even had a little bag of ginger balls in my handbag..

My husband tries it too, but nothing else works for him..

Mmm... Ginger.... Never really thought about it, but I swear by gingerbread or ginger cookies when I'm feeling nauseous... That ginger, I think it really works...

    Hi ladies,
I also had a lot of nausea, but luckily it's a bit less now. But indeed, ginger and eating small portions on time spread throughout the day helps the most. My gynecologist also advised me to eat away the nausea (which I really couldn't grasp at first) because when you're nauseous, you really can't think about eating. But since I started eating on time, there's nothing wrong.
    Greetings,
    Sisi

    Hi ladies,
Thanks for the tips. Ginger does help a bit with the symptoms, but I'm still feeling nauseous, even though I eat small amounts regularly. Well, as long as I can keep my food down, it'll be fine. It's just tough when you have to go to work like that :-)
Trying to lie down for a bit doesn't work out so easily, you know, at work :-)
But yeah, it's just part of it...
    Greetings,
    Evelyn

For me, a vitamin B tablet a day helped a lot. The nausea disappeared like snow in the sun.

I'd say: if you can't work, then don't do it!! Or ask your boss for lighter duties..

I'm also feeling nauseous.. eating on time helps, luckily. Although food is indeed against it.. I just had a nap (I'm on vacation) and woke up feeling very tight-chested and down.. So weird, nausea is part of it, but feeling tight-chested doesn't seem right?!
Thanks for the tips against nausea... I'm going to try them
  18. Olivia-Anna #19

    Hey Bloem!!
Just wanted to say: what goes with one doesn't necessarily go with the other..
Feeling nauseous is your body getting used to and adjusting to pregnancy...
It naturally depends on how severe the discomfort was,
but it could simply be a sign that you're adapting to being "pregnant"

If it were to get worse, I'd definitely consult a doctor. It's not pleasant, of course..
    Congratulations again!!!

Hi Olivia-Anna, what a beautiful name by the way... you've given me an idea;-)
Fortunately, I haven't been short of breath anymore. I fell asleep and when I woke up, I was so short of breath... I'll definitely keep an eye out for more shortness of breath episodes and will definitely call the doctor if needed.
    Thanks for your congratulations :-D
