Dooierzak and gestational sac but no embryo

Hi!

I had an internal scan last week and they could clearly see the gestational sac. Today I had another internal scan, a week later, and this time they only saw a yolk sac, no embryo. Is this normal? According to my last period, I should be 6 weeks pregnant today, but the gynecologist thought the scan showed it might be a few days less.

Has anyone else had this? A yolk sac without an embryo?

I'm at the end of my rope with the gynecologist and just have to go to the emergency room, but that's not until in 2 or 3 weeks..

I don't know a lot about it, but if your gynecologist didn't say anything, it'll probably be fine, right?

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with that.. for my first ultrasound, I was supposed to be 8 weeks and 6 days, but the baby was the size of 5 weeks and 5 days, and there was also a heartbeat. Just a gestational sac and yolk sac. I was also told to consider whether it was an early pregnancy or a problematic one. Unfortunately, the latter was the case. Two days after that ultrasound, I started having brown bleeding, which led to a miscarriage that evening. I spent those days googling frantically and read both positive and negative stories. I truly hope for the best for you!!!

When do you have your next ultrasound?

Hmm, I'm reading that everywhere too. She kept saying "yes, it looks good," but then I'm home and boom, doubt creeps in.
The GP calls me within 2 days for an appointment, but that appointment was supposed to be in 2 or 3 weeks. That feels like a really long wait.

Yeah, after that they scheduled another appointment for two weeks later. It could just be an early pregnancy, that's what they were trying to reassure me with. But I get it, you're going to go crazy Googling.. unfortunately there's nothing else you can do but wait (

Yeah, it's early anyway. Since I tested positive, I've been going to the gynecologist every week for an internal ultrasound. Two weeks ago, there was nothing to see, and since last Thursday, there's been a black spot, so to speak. Today, it's a black spot with a gestational sac. Anyway, I think I'll just call and ask if I can come in earlier because this isn't really comfortable like this.

I had something similar happen to me. I was already 13 weeks pregnant, and on the ultrasound, only a gestational sac was visible, the right size for 13 weeks. Nothing else. It was a miscarriage; the baby had probably passed away earlier, and I had a D&C.

Oh, it doesn't look very promising...
But is it normal that the embryo comes at the same time as the gestational sac, or does the gestational sac usually come first and then the embryo?

If I’m not mistaken, this happens at the same time—the yolk sac becomes the placenta, and the embryo should be in the gestational sac.

The midwife told me back then that the yolk sac and gestational sac mark the beginning of pregnancy. But by 6 weeks, there should already be an embryo with a heartbeat. How far along were you according to the ultrasound?

According to the ultrasound, it's 5 weeks, and last week there was only a spot, and today suddenly the yolk sac is there too and the spot is bigger, so there is some progress, but I just find it weird.

Hmm, well if you're 5 weeks along, it's still quite possible that in two weeks you'll simply see an embryo with a heartbeat. Unfortunately, it's hard to predict...

Hang in there, waiting can feel so long.

Yeah, and I have absolutely no patience, so these will be 2 long weeks.
    But thanks for your reply.

How are you doing now with your girl?

    Hi ladies,

I have a question. I went to the OB-GYN today. She said I only have a gestational sac and yolk sac, but I see no growth. I had to choose between a D&C, taking pills (misoprostol), or waiting. I chose to wait, and my doctor advised me to do so too. I should be at 6-7-8 weeks now. Have any of you been through this? I don't feel pregnant anymore; I don't feel those hormones. I only get occasional twinges and cramps under my belly and uterus, and some breast tenderness, nothing more. Have any of you experienced this too?
