It doesn't sit well with me..

What a terrible situation you're in right now. I had a miscarriage myself in January and let my body handle it on its own. If that doesn't happen, you should still go to the hospital to see how things stand and then get medication to induce it. At least those were the options I was given.
I'd say, if you don't agree with this, get another gynecologist to take a look so you're sure. It sounds like this guy might be treating you more like a number... patient, while for you, this second little one could mean life.
