Advice requested - 22 weeks and still don't feel the baby

Ladies, I have a question. I'm now over 22 weeks and I feel the baby very occasionally, very faintly (very softly). But not every day and/or very clearly. It's such small kicks that I wonder if it's even the baby at all. I can also feel absolutely nothing for 3 days! I had the scan 2 weeks ago and everything looked fine, which was also reassuring. Now, a day before the scan I felt my baby for the first time (very clearly, by the way), but I haven't felt that feeling (that very clear movement) since. Can you advise me if this is a bit "weird"? Even though my placenta is at the front, I still find it strange. Most women feel their baby very clearly every day from 22 weeks, but I really don't. What do you think?

    Hi Anonymous,

Yeah, I can relate to that sometimes and sometimes I don't.. If you're really worried, just give them a call.. And explain what you've posted here on the site..
Maybe you can come in for an ultrasound or just to listen to the baby's heartbeat..
I'm 22 weeks and 5 days and I feel it now and then, but not too often.
But I can't tell you whether it's okay or not.. Your placenta is at the front, so think of it as a cushion.. Maybe he or she is already practicing how to defend themselves hehehe..

Stay strong.. Don't stress too much.. If you don't feel right, just get in touch okay..

    Love, Ju

P.S. Let me know how things go.. Have you found out what you're having yet.. We're having a boy, our third...

    Hi,

I only felt my baby for the first time at 23 weeks, and even then, not all day long. The weeks that followed, the movements became much clearer.

I'm now 28 weeks, and the midwife told me that I should feel about 10 small movements per day from the baby. If that's the case, everything is fine.

I wouldn't panic yet, especially if you have a placenta previa and the ultrasound was good.

    Lots of love!

    Hi!
I’ve got that too and was also worried... had the 20-week scan yesterday. My placenta is at the back, so I was told earlier that I’d feel my baby quickly and a lot... but not really. Yesterday they told me my baby is positioned way down, so there’s not much kicking to feel. Maybe that’s the case for you too? I totally get how you feel, but we just have to be patient! Yesterday I was lying there watching him kick and move (while I couldn’t feel it), and I decided to enjoy it more instead of worrying so much... It’ll all work out (probably to the point of being annoying )
    Cheers,
    Rinske

It’ll come naturally, Rinske. It’s definitely confusing when you read that some women feel it as early as 8 weeks, while others feel it at 16 weeks, and then someone else at 20 weeks. Well, if you had an ultrasound yesterday and everything looked fine, it’s definitely time to start enjoying yourself now... still +/- 20 weeks to go..

    Hey everyone!
I'm actually quite relieved after reading these replies...
I had an ultrasound at 21 weeks and everything is fine with our little guy... but I absolutely don't feel anything moving! Very occasionally there are some little twitches or pops in my belly (but they seem more like overactive intestines!) :-)
Maybe I should start worrying less and reading fewer articles...

But the tickles and plop are your baby, right!
It does look like your intestines!

    @ Karen Hertveld,
Yeah, it feels like something popped in your belly, I had that too at 21 weeks. I didn't dare say anything because I wasn't sure, but now I know better...
    @Kim is right, you know...

Since reading the replies here, I've been paying much more attention and... YESSSSSS!
Our little guy is more active than I thought!! PHWEE, what a relief!
Regular little pops and tickly sensations (so happy!!!!) are noticeable!
Cheers and thanks for the help! x

    Hi Karen,
    That's so nice for you!

Soon you'll be able to feel it on the outside too, and maybe even see it!

    Love, Kim

    @Karen,
I already thought it couldn't be any other way than that your little one is also quite active..

Enjoy it now, okay? No more stressssssssssssssssssss..

Hey, I'm now 24 weeks and the ultrasound and doctors say everything is going well with our boy, but I do feel him move sometimes and I'm quite tall and don't have a very big belly yet.
  13. onaatje Guest #14

    Hi moms,
I'm also 22 weeks pregnant now and I don't feel it every day either, and the ultrasound from two weeks ago was perfect. My midwife also said that feeling the baby move depends from baby to baby and from body to body.

    Expecting your first little girl?

    Hi,
I had a question. I'm now over 23 weeks pregnant but I don't feel anything at all.
I do have a heavy feeling in my lower abdomen and some discomfort, but no signs of the baby yet.
    Is this normal?
I can also just press in and hold my belly without it feeling hard, and in the evening when I lie in bed, I don't feel my uterus either.
  15. MissMyrna #16

My midwife said you should only be able to feel the baby from 24 weeks onwards. So if you don't feel anything before that, there's nothing to worry about...

I'm 19 weeks now and I don't feel anything either, so no panic, it's going to be fine

I'm 21 weeks and 3 days and I feel nothing....

Hi, I'm Tasha. I'm about 22 weeks pregnant now. I can feel the baby, but the doctors can't see it yet
  19. Karin #20

For the ladies who mentioned above that they haven't felt the baby yet, do you feel them now? I'm 21 weeks and feel a little bit sometimes. I had an ultrasound on Thursday and everything was fine, and she said I have plenty of amniotic fluid and said quite simply: kicking in a big swimming pool doesn't give much action either... I burst out laughing and thought haha oops yes, that's true.
