Miscarriage and work

Hi ladies,

After 8 miscarriages, we were pregnant again and the ultrasound showed the heartbeat wasn't beating I took cytotec and last Sunday the baby came out, and I went back to work 2 days later. I lost a lot of blood, so I contacted the hospital to ask if it was normal after passing. I now have to go to the hospital next Monday to check if I'm completely clean. Now I'm dealing with this: my employer is making it really difficult about my absence next Monday and wants me to come to work after the appointment, justified by: "you can bleed here too!!" And they say no replacement can be arranged for me, and the protocol says I should just come to work. I'm currently still on sick leave and an appointment has been made with the occupational health physician.

First off: strength with the loss
Secondly: What a ridiculous thought from your employer.

If you remain sick-listed, can he really expect you to come?

Being sick is being sick. In fact, if you want to, you can have everything handled through the occupational health service, and you're not required to disclose the reason for your sick leave. As long as the occupational health service knows... They'll then determine whether it's justified or not. That's it...
