Miscarriage and working

Hi ladies,

After 8 miscarriages, we were pregnant again, and the ultrasound showed the heartbeat wasn't beating I took Cytotec and last Sunday the baby came out, and I went back to work two days later. I lost a lot of blood, so I contacted the hospital to ask if it was normal after passing the tissue. I have to go to the hospital next Monday to check if I'm completely clear. Now I'm dealing with this: my employer is making it really difficult about my absence next Monday and wants me to come to work right after the appointment and then, justified by: "you can bleed here too!!" And they say no replacement can be arranged for me, and the protocol says I should just come to work. I'm currently still on sick leave, and an appointment has been made with the occupational health doctor.

You didn’t call in sick for no reason, and as long as you haven’t been cleared to return by your doctor, you really don’t need to come in.
Maybe discuss this with your occupational health physician? They’re sometimes available by phone in between appointments.

    Wow, that's intense

Your boss sure has a lot of empathy.
Do what feels right for you.
This is about your health, after all.
I’d really talk to your employer about this.
That kind of comment just isn’t normal.
