Hi,

Can an employer force you to keep working full-time after pregnancy?

Does anyone know more about this?

Greetings

    I found this via Google.

    Hi Linnie,

I think you’re always entitled to parental leave. An employer can only refuse it under very serious circumstances. You can then take 26 times your normal weekly hours over the course of a year. Most employers even give you the chance to spread this over a period longer than a year. This comes down to 26*40=1080 hours. If you take one day per week of parental leave, you can use it for 1080/8=135 weeks, which is more than 2.5 years!!! If your employer really doesn’t accept part-time work, you can always find another job during that time.

But I think he can’t just refuse part-time work either. Check out the link below with info from the FNV union.

Thank you! I'll go through it once!

Do you also get paid for parental leave on that day?

No, parental leave is generally unpaid. Some companies do pay you (partially) during this time, which should be mentioned in your collective labor agreement (cao).
