Back and stomach pain

Hi everyone,
I'm almost 21 weeks pregnant and for about two weeks now I've been having severe back pain in the early morning that also turns into a sort of crampy feeling in my belly (not really painful). I feel like my belly contracts a few times. This lasts until I get up from bed. Sometimes I want to sleep in a bit more but that's often not possible because of the painful back. Once I'm up and throughout the day I don't really have this issue, only in the early morning. I've already mentioned this to my midwife but she couldn't find a cause. Does anyone else have (or have had) the same thing? I'm quite worried about this and it would be good to hear similar stories or for someone to tell me what exactly this is. Thanks in advance!

Not really experienced with it myself. But it can help to sleep on your side and use a breastfeeding pillow. Your belly rests on the pillow, so your back and belly don't experience too much pressure.

Thanks for your reply. I've already tried this, sleeping with a nursing pillow, but it doesn't help much for me and he's often out of bed by morning. It's mainly when he turns in bed that my stomach cramps up.

Yeah, that’s totally possible, I had that too when I was pregnant with my son. That’s why I regularly slept on my side and tried to turn as little as possible.

I have something similar. For me, it’s related to a full bladder.

Thanks for the replies. Maybe it’s indeed related to my bladder, because when I wake up early, I don’t have so much trouble with it. It’s worse when I try to sleep a bit longer. I’m also sometimes so unsure, you know
