2nd trimester
GBS bacteria and very anxious
AnneliesGuest ·
Good morning everyone,
Just wanted to share my story and hope to hear from others in a similar situation.
I'm now 19 weeks pregnant (first pregnancy) and last week I had a urine test just to be sure, because I had to pee quite often and thought it might be a bladder infection.
Yesterday the GP called with worrying news: I'm a carrier of the GBS bacteria and won't be able to give birth at home. My baby is at risk. We were told not to worry too much, but still, there were a lot of tears yesterday and I didn't sleep. You start reading on Google and then read such scary stories. Are there people familiar with this bacteria and how does it usually go? I'm wondering, for example, if it ends up well more often than not, and how a birth would proceed? Since amniotic fluid is now my baby's enemy once the membranes have ruptured, I'm wondering if they'll plan a birth or go for a C-section? If all goes well, we'll have another info session with the midwife, but I just needed to get this off my chest.
