baby unhappy at home

Hi,

I’m a proud mama of a big boy who is now 9 weeks old! The little guy is doing super well, and I’m really proud of him! The only thing I’m really struggling with is the following:
When my little guy is at the grandparents’ house, he hardly cries and is super good there, but once we’re home, he cries a lot and is extremely difficult... I’m also very much involved with him and try to soothe him, which does work. Still, I have the feeling that my little guy is unhappy at home...
Are there any other mamas who have problems with this?

I don't have any experience with it, but I can imagine it's frustrating. Your little man can't say what's wrong after all. I don't know if you've already tried it, but maybe you should discuss with the grandparents what else they do, since it clearly has a positive effect. Unfortunately, you don't get a user manual with a child, so all tips are welcome, I think.

Could it have something to do with temperature or a strong smell? Maybe you have pets or lots of herbs at home? Or maybe it's not natural and grandma and grandpa are?
Maybe they play other games? Or does the little guy simply realize that you're the one who takes care of meals and is trusted, so he wants to be held by you all the time? What makes him happy with you? Maybe there's a hint there.
I understand how you feel, but try to remember that crying is the only way babies communicate. It's not the same as an adult who cries all the time. Hope this helps you out.

9 weeks old and already staying over at grandma and grandpa's. Poor little thing.

I think he finds it more exciting/gets more stimulation than at home.
Once he's back home, he needs some time to unwind.
You see this happen at older ages too...

Sorry about this reaction. If grandma and grandpa want to babysit their grandchild now, isn’t that more than okay? There are plenty of grandparents who aren’t around for their (grand)children. And maybe it’s even out of necessity that the parents have to work, etc., but even if that weren’t the case, it’s still fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but when someone asks whether the parents still have issues with their child being different at the grandparents’ than at home, reactions like yours—especially anonymous ones—don’t really belong in my opinion. The fact that this mom is asking the question shows enough, and your reaction is quite short-sighted. But that’s just my opinion... Sorry, I don’t have any experience with this myself, but I wish you all the best in figuring out how this might happen, and hopefully, things will get better soon.
