I'm curious if there are more mamas expecting a twin? I myself am due in September with a twin.

    Oo super! Congratulations Are these your first babies? And how is the pregnancy going... this is our 2nd pregnancy and I'm so curious how everything will go now... were quite surprised that there were two haha

    Yeah, this is our first pregnancy, and we're having a boy and a girl!! I'm really struggling with lower back pain and heartburn!! When I try to put on my socks/shoes, it feels like everything is pushing up!! Otherwise, I'm fine everywhere else!! There's only a 120g difference between our little ones, and we had an extra ultrasound at the UMCG hospital in Groningen. It turned out our girl might have a heart defect, but she could still grow out of it, or it could be a permanent issue!! Because of this, I'm getting an amniocentesis at 28/29 weeks to find out where it's coming from. If it's chromosome 21 (Down syndrome) or a regular defect or something like T18, she won't be viable!! But it could also be that both of them have it, and it's just a heart defect, and she might still grow out of it, or she'll need surgery after birth!! It's a really long story!! We were quite startled in November when we heard this at the twin ultrasound!! But now we're super happy!! How's it going with you??

    I'm only just reaching week 10 now. We had an ultrasound with the OB-GYN at 7 weeks and saw a lovely little heart, but it was a very quick visit. The next day we went for a 'fun ultrasound' to show our daughter, "look, a baby in mommy's tummy," but to my surprise, there were suddenly two little ones lying snugly next to each other! I was totally shocked! She said it was 80% twins, otherwise it could have been the umbilical cord... but for us, it was clear haha. A week later we went back and they were a bit further apart; here it's one egg, and so far she's growing evenly But it was like a shock all at once: pregnant and then suddenly twins haha. But when I heard their heartbeats, I was sold. Wow, it was so beautiful!

    We have another check-up on Tuesday.

    But geez, it's quite a thrilling time for you guys. I hope it's something they grow out of and that there's nothing wrong with your babies. But what a great thing, a boy and a girl! Wow! Hopefully, you'll get more confirmation soon on how things are going. And from your photos, I saw your belly growing really fast. Wow, it's beautiful. I'm starting to notice it here too; my pants are getting tighter haha..

    Oh my, you thought you had one and then suddenly two a day later, that must have been quite a shock!! And what a beautiful ultrasound on Tuesday, enjoy it!!

    Our boy is perfectly healthy, our girl probably has an abnormality!! But we're also under strict monitoring now, with an ultrasound every two weeks. Next check-up with the OB-GYN on Feb 26th and another ultrasound on March 4th!! It's still suspenseful, but we're staying positive!!
