Tilted uterus

Hi everyone,

I went to the GP today for a 6-week scan. I was supposed to see the gestational sac today, but unfortunately, that didn't happen. The GP couldn't see inside my uterus because it's tilted backwards. Is this normal? Are there others who have this? Just to be safe, I had some blood taken to reassure myself that everything is okay. Results tomorrow...

Cheers,

Emily

Did he have an internal or external ultrasound?

He had an external ultrasound done.

Why? At 6 weeks, you can barely see anything with an external ultrasound. Try not to worry. Many doctors don’t do an external ultrasound until 10 weeks, simply because it’s much clearer then.

At 6 weeks, you really can't see anything with an external ultrasound. I'd also go to the gynecologist rather than the GP for an ultrasound.

I didn't get pregnant naturally, and sometimes my uterus was tilted a bit after insemination. And other times it wasn't. This could have to do with how you're lying on the table and whether your bladder is full or not. So I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Have you received the results yet?

    Hi everyone,

My hCG level at 6 weeks is 13,955, and according to the doctor, the pregnancy is progressing well. So I'll just wait and see for now. In two weeks, I'm supposed to go back to the GP, and she'll try to check again. She told me I can only go to the gynecologist at 12 weeks.

    Best,
    Emily

Why are you going to the GP instead of a midwife?

You can make an appointment yourself with a midwife...
    Or a gynecologist...

    Belgium for sure?

Sorry, but the system in the Netherlands is actually better organized, and your first appointment with the midwife is at 7/8 weeks if you want.

    Good luck, girl!

I’m also from Belgium and had an internal ultrasound at 5 weeks, and I’ll have another one this Friday at 7 weeks...

    Hi!

Next week, at 8 weeks, I'm having another scan with the GP, and I'll ask to make an appointment with the gynecologist. I really want to be sure everything is going well. The GP doesn't really put me at ease, especially since we couldn't see the gestational sac on the scan because of the tilted uterus.

    Cheers

Can't you call a gynecologist yourself?

Hey Emmeke, why don't you just call the gynecologist for an appointment?

I had that too.. with the internal exam everything is quite clear to see

    Hi everyone,

Went to the GP today for an ultrasound, and my uterus is positioned well. I was able to see the little one and hear its heartbeat. I'm 8 weeks and 1 day today, and the little one is 1.75 cm

I need to go to the gynecologist at 12 weeks, and in 2 weeks I'll have another ultrasound and blood test with the doctor.

    Best,

    Emily
