Park as a cradle

Hi, we're thinking about not buying a crib and instead putting a playard down for our baby to sleep in during the day. At night, he/she can sleep in the crib upstairs in our room.

Are there any other parents who let their baby sleep in a playard?
This is actually discouraged by the child and family health center (I'm not really sure why), so I'm suddenly starting to doubt if this is a good idea...

We did have a bassinet, but our oldest only wanted to sleep in the stroller during the day . I can imagine they advise against it because she might end up lying with her face pressed against the upholstery on the side of the stroller bassinet? But yeah, you can always find a problem if you look hard enough. Trust your own instincts .

We also went for a park crib here. The idea is to put the baby in there during the day. I don't see any harm in it. I feel more secure when she's lying nearby me than when she's in a separate room.

    Hey,

we chose to use a bassinet for sleeping both during the day and at night. The bassinet was easy to move around. That way, our baby quickly learned that the bassinet was the place to sleep, and the playpen was the place to play. The playpen had lots of colors and a mobile, etc. Nothing from the playpen was in the bassinet. We also only set up the playpen later on, so we had more space in the living room for longer.

I felt really comfortable with that.

I know a lot of people who also use the playpen as a bassinet. I don't think it's much more dangerous than a bassinet.

    Hi,

We’ve had 3 kids so far, and during the first few months, they mostly slept downstairs. Either in a travel cot or in a sleep sack/blanket in the playpen (on a changing mat). We always wondered if it was okay to let them sleep downstairs, but all 3 times it went really well, and the transition to daytime naps in their crib upstairs was very natural. No problems at all! Oh, and I also carried the baby in a sling a lot. It was lovely...

I think we’ll do the same with our upcoming 4th baby.

    Best,
    Joe
