From 2 to 1 afternoon nap

Hi ladies!
My little girl is 16 months old and we've canceled her morning nap for the past few days, so she only naps in the afternoon now. During the day this goes without a hitch, but from 6pm onwards she gets so tired that she's not fun to be around at all.
Putting her down for a nap later in the afternoon isn't an option either, because her eyes are almost closing during mealtime
At what age did your little ones go from 2 naps to 1, and did it go smoothly?

    Stella's mom
Actually, I always only let them have one nap
and consciously kept my daughters awake
because I always thought they'd sleep well in the evening.
Just to be safe, I did that.
So you probably won't get much from my story
but it was always hard keeping them awake in the afternoon despite all the effort to keep them awake.
By 4 o'clock they were already exhausted.
    I kept them awake until 7 o'clock.
Then they'd naturally fall asleep right away
and sleep through the whole night.
Their nap was from 10 o'clock to 12 o'clock, half past 1 like that.
If I put them to bed later, they'd wake up later.
That's why I chose that time.

My little boy has been down to one nap since he was 10 months old. But that was pretty abnormal if I hear the stories around me. He just didn't want to sleep anymore. He now sleeps with 16 months usually from 1300-1500.
Why did you cancel one nap? Some children simply need two naps.

Oh wow Amy, and how many hours does your little boy sleep at night?
We're letting her do one nap now because it's easier regarding her childcare schedule (she has to lie flat due to threatened miscarriage )
But at the Child and Family Center they also said she could go back to one nap if needed.

Madelene, what time do your kids wake up in the morning?
Right now Stella sleeps from 7:30 PM to 8:30 AM.
But when I have to go back to work, we'll leave at 7:45 AM and won't be home until 7:45 PM. I think we'd better switch back to two naps!

He sleeps from 7:30 PM to 8:00 AM now, sometimes even later. Before, it was really bad—he slept from 8:30 PM to 9:00 AM.
He’s not really into sleeping, you know :-). But apparently he doesn’t need it either.

Well, I understand your dilemma. Maybe you could see if the tiredness lessens after a few days. Habit can also play a role.

Mama of Stella, my little princesses are now the oldest is 6, turning 7 at the end of January.
And my second little princess is 5.
I'm now expecting our third little princess
My girls don't wake up on their own during the week. My husband wakes them at 7.
And on weekends or during holidays, they wake up themselves around half past 10 or 10 o'clock.
At the earliest, at quarter past 9.

Hi hi, our daughter is almost 11 months old and only naps once during the day. But if we notice she's tired after that, we give her a power nap of max 15 minutes, then she has dinner, a little playtime (half an hour), bath time, and once downstairs she gets, for example, some Bambix, then plays again (15-30 minutes), brushes her teeth, reads a book, and goes to bed.
