7 weeks pregnant and feeling so down

I don't quite relate, but there must have been a reason why you chose to go through with the pregnancy? You should only make a choice like this if you're ready for it, and from what you're saying, you expected your doubts to disappear.

It'll all work out, though. Maybe you'll feel better soon, perhaps after the ultrasound?

And as for your employer, they only care about the cost and can't be happy about it because they're just looking at it from a business perspective. Just enjoy it... seriously! Everything will be fine, sweetheart.

Love,

    Hi Anna,

There's nothing to be ashamed of. Some women experience prenatal depression during pregnancy; for some it shows up as a low mood, while for others it goes much further. It's important to talk about how you're feeling—with your partner, but also with your midwife or GP. They can help determine if you're struggling and guide you on how to cope.

Try to let go of the shame. Feeling this way doesn't mean you're not happy about the baby, even if it might sound contradictory.

Strength to you with this! Hopefully, you'll find a way to feel better.

    Best wishes

    Girl, it's totally normal!
We were at it for 2 years ourselves, too, in the zh.
    It's just the hormones!
It'll be fine, just keep pushing through. I've been there too!

    Hi Anna,

Maybe it doesn't feel so extreme, but it's really tough for you and there's nothing to be ashamed of. I had it during the first few weeks too... Now it's finally lessening (I'm 11 weeks now). For me, it was the hormones... I couldn't stand anything, felt incapable of doing anything, tired, and everything felt like too much.
    It will pass!
Make it a topic of conversation with your partner and also your midwife; they have experience.
My husband told me, "Just admit it! Take some rest, do nothing, it'll come back." And luckily, it did. I hope it does for you too, very soon.

That’s so annoying when an employer doesn’t help out. I don’t get those employers. It’s so normal for women to have kids, and it’s such a beautiful and lovely thing. Others actually get happy and cheerful about it. Besides, the government covers the time you’re not there (maternity leave), so what are they complaining about? Oh, they have to find a temporary solution? Geez, what selfish people.

    Hi Anna,

    Sending you a big hug!

How brave of you to start this topic! Often, feelings like these aren't spoken about. Unfortunately, I'm also struggling a lot with this this time. This is my 7th pregnancy and I've experienced it every time, one time worse than the last.

Girl, be kind to yourself, there's nothing you can do except take good care of yourself. Do things you like/enjoy. And talk about it. I do that too, not that it makes it go away, but just to get things off my chest, to let my husband know he needs to watch out for me.

Are you prone to feeling down? I am. Dark days, feeling cold, feeling unwell because of the pregnancy, wanting to feel the exact opposite, wanting to enjoy it to the fullest.

I feel so negative sometimes, ugh. There are days when I just want to lie in bed, days when I cry a lot, then I feel so miserable. Outside it's grey and gloomy, my body feels awful and so tired. My normal eating pattern, I don't fancy anything anymore, I get nauseous from everything. And so on.

In your case, on top of that, a negative reaction from your work. Men, really, pffft.

Girl, chin up, it really does get better! After those first 3 months, when the ailments fade, when the leaves and flowers grow again, when the birds start singing again, when your belly starts growing and you start feeling your little one, that cloud you're happily dreaming of will come!

Thank you all so much for your lovely replies; it gives me courage and support. My husband is understanding and doesn't mind. I come home from work often exhausted. Due to the stress, I get stomachaches, and since I've had them all day and already feel down, I'm not exactly the most cheerful person at home, but he doesn't mind any of that.

My employer is a woman, not very old, and lives for her work—there's nothing else to her. I also feel like games are being played and they're preparing to not give me a permanent position later on. I try to ignore her and let it go, but the fear of ending up jobless with a small child also causes a lot of stress.

At first, I found it hard to let myself sleep in; I felt like everything just had to keep going. But these last few days, I'm taking my rest and feeling a bit better. Work is also going to be very hectic in the coming weeks, and I'm working a lot of hours. Not much consideration is given to being pregnant, which I find quite a pity.

It's nice to be able to write it off my chest here and to see that there are other pregnant women who experience this. A man understands, but he doesn't know how it feels with everything happening in your body.

Thank you all for the support. Have a nice weekend, and I wish you a pleasant and lovely pregnancy.

    Love, Anna

    Super annoying for you!
I don't recognize it, but it's probably the raging hormones. It'll really get better, I promise!
    Be extra kind to yourself

    Hi hi
I'm almost 8 weeks pregnant and also incredibly tired and down, no interest in anything, feeling lethargic....
It's nice that you shared it, I had the feeling too that this wasn't allowed or okay....

    Hey hey!
I have exactly the same. I'm 10 weeks pregnant now and I feel so down. I've been lying in bed all day today and I regularly have days when I have no desire or energy to do anything. Even going grocery shopping or taking my daughter to school feels like too much. I also don't feel like working at the moment, but I still go to work with lead in my shoes because I don't want to lose my job. Sometimes I do feel like doing something fun and going out, but then I remind myself that I have to get ready, change clothes, shower, put on makeup, etc., and that holds me back because I really don't feel like it! Helpppp I really hope this goes away in a couple of weeks...
