Constant stomach cramps

Hi everyone,

I found out last Friday that I'm pregnant, my hCG level was 12. The doctor told me it was very uncertain whether the pregnancy would continue. On Monday I had my blood drawn again and the hCG level was 75. According to the doctor, I am 4 weeks pregnant.

What worries me most are the many cramps I'm having in my lower abdomen. They are constant sharp twinges. I had a miscarriage two months ago and now I'm afraid of going through that again.

My question to you is, is it normal to have cramps almost all day long, or could something be wrong?

Best,

Emily

It could be due to your uterus... your intestines get pushed up too, of course...
I wouldn't focus too much attention on it...
I had quite a bit of discomfort in my lower abdomen at first too, but I'm already 29+3 weeks pregnant...

    Hi there,

I feel like the cramps are less today, especially when I bend or straighten up and sit down I feel little cramps.

    Hi,

Frustrating, isn't it, having to wait.
People tell you to be patient, when you really want to know where you stand.
Have you searched for round ligament pain? It can actually occur early on in pregnancy.
Maybe you can compare your symptoms with that. I have to wait until my due date on Jan 26th, but I've also had clear cramps in my stomach, back and groin. Not comparable to period cramps, but clear cramping.
The only thing I can do is wait and see what it means....
    Good luck

    Hi

Yes, it's a nagging feeling in my lower belly. I'd say I'm about 4 or 5 weeks along now. Isn't that a bit early for round ligament pain? I haven't had any back pain yet. And I'm not experiencing any nausea either. Yeah, just wait and see... Luckily my GP can do ultrasounds, she only charges for the consultation. I'm allowed to go in a week and a half to see the gestational sac. Two weeks later I can go again to hear the heartbeat.

    Best,

I think ligament pain or lower abdominal pain can be caused by your uterus expanding, which is obviously necessary before your baby can grow. So it seems harmless to me.

    Hey Emmeke!
During my daughter's pregnancy, I had ENORMOUS cramps in my lower abdomen for the first 2 months! At night I slept on my stomach to relieve the pain and just heated up cherry pit cushions :-) My colleague told me then that she also had so much abdominal cramps during her first pregnancy!
I had a really good pregnancy for the rest and a big girl of 3.75kg and 52cm :-)
I'm also 6 weeks pregnant now but with enormous bleeding so for us it's anxious waiting ...
    Good luck!!
