I had my IUD removed on January 6, 2022. Since I’m trying to conceive, I’ve heard lots of different stories. When I got it removed yesterday, I had a little bleeding, and since today I’ve had diarrhea—I’ve never had that before, and I did have sex with my boyfriend yesterday..
    Does anyone recognize this?
    And otherwise no other symptoms

    Hi everyone,
I had the Mirena IUD removed because I was experiencing a lot of side effects like heart palpitations (or so I thought). I had the Mirena IUD for 6 years. Now, I've had heavy bleeding and severe heart palpitations for 4 days. The IUD was removed on Monday afternoon.
Does anyone else have this experience?

    Hi everyone,

I had my Mirena removed on July 7th, after more than 4 years. I bled for 5 days after that. Now, almost a month later, I'm having a hard time with mood swings, fatigue, a really bloated belly, trouble going to the bathroom, lower back pain (especially at night), occasional hot flashes (even though I used to always feel cold), trouble sleeping, and lots of dreams. I thought I was pregnant, but unfortunately, that's not the case. I hope my period comes soon and that I'll get rid of these symptoms quickly. It's nice to read that I'm not the only one experiencing this. I feel like my body has a lot to get used to with the hormonal fluctuations.

Do you have any tips on how to deal with this?

    Best, Stefanie

What I’m curious about, after reading about your complaints that form such a long list… (some more intense than what I experience myself) – are there any supplements we can take to help get back into balance faster? Besides rest and patience, what can we do?

I often and very easily get sad, and I’m also quick to get irritated. It’s like I’ve had PMS for almost two months straight after having the IUD removed. And then I suddenly thought, oh no, is this the beginning of the transition? I’m “only” 37, but you get nervous and don’t know what’s going on. After the IUD was removed, there was a short period of high libido, but that seems to have completely disappeared for a month now, and I feel and know that it doesn’t match my personal normal.

The cycle is a mess, so I can’t yet find any reassurance in it that it’ll just be a short while and then everything will settle down again. I’d like to support my body through this, for my own mood and that of the people around me. I don’t need to conceive a child right now, but how do I know whether I would or wouldn’t want to, if my emotions and hormones are all over the place?
