Secret preference for the gender of my 3rd child

Dear mothers,

I can imagine that titles like this sometimes stir up quite a bit of dust, and oh, how ashamed I feel about it, but I still want to share this with you all.
Currently, I'm expecting our 3rd child; we already have 2 healthy boys. This week I'm having a gender-determining ultrasound, and I'm incredibly nervous. Secretly, I'm hoping so much for a girl! The most important thing is obviously that the baby is healthy, regardless of gender.
But still, I don't know what it is, but the desire for a girl is so strong – the cute clothes, little dresses, etc., etc., it just seems wonderful to experience that too!

Who can relate to this? Who might also have been in this situation and recognizes the feelings I have? Once again, I don't want to upset anyone with this topic; being pregnant itself is and remains a wonder.

No experience with it, just have one
But I read this quite often and think it's a shame there's actually a sort of taboo around it. I can totally understand that if you already have 2 boys, you secretly hope for a girl now It also doesn't mean that if you're pregnant with a boy now, you're not happy about it

I do know someone on this forum who has 2 girls and is now pregnant with the third and would also really like a boy Nothing to be ashamed of, it's a natural reaction in my opinion

Totally normal. As you yourself said, the first thing you think about is health. And secretly wanting a girl is also very understandable. I'd only worry if you said you wanted a girl now and not otherwise, haha. I already have a girl and I really wanted a boy this time. I already have a girl to braid hair with and pick out dresses for, haha. I really wanted a tough little boy this time and I thought my partner would too. But number one for me is health! And if it's a girl again this time, I'll feel just as blessed and I'll love her just as much. I did shed tears of joy when the ultrasound showed this time that it had a little penis! I had that secret preference with my second one too, haha. But again, I don't think such a secret preference is weird at all! As long as you're happy with both, you're allowed to have a preference, right?

    Mom, 28
I feel the same way, I'm pregnant now
with my third and I have a burning desire for a boy because we already have 2 girls
But I also feel like I shouldn't have such a strong preference because it took me a long time to get the third.
So I should actually be grateful.
But it's very understandable that you're longing for a girl now after 2 boys.
For us it's the other way around, we already have 2 girls.
    Greetings, Madelene

And we're also super nervous about the gender reveal.
But AG, such a cute girl is more than welcome, okay
Just that longing for a boy.

Why shouldn't you have a preference? I hope for a girl but am almost sure it's a boy. Doesn't mean he's any less welcome.

I think it’s a bit of a woman thing to feel guilty about it so quickly. But it’s not necessary; I just think it’s something that comes with being a woman. It’s nothing, really—I’ve felt the same way and I totally get it As I mentioned earlier. Wishing you a lovely pregnancy.
    Greetings, Madelene.
