Haha, I happen to have a friend whose last name is Floor, but that’s so rare! I myself have Floor, and I’ve always been called Floortje. Never got any weird nicknames or distortions. By the way, in English-speaking countries, nobody gives me a weird look when I say my name. (You could make it Floortje for them, then it’s nothing special for them.) I’ve also never sat next to girls in class named Floor, which is nice too! By the way, I do have a male colleague named Floor now

I also knew a Floris with the nickname Floor

Floor is indeed a girl's name, a boy's name, a surname, and an abbreviation. For us, it's a tough, strong, yet feminine and cheerful girl's name.
Thanks Floortje for sharing your experiences with your name! And thanks to everyone else for thinking along.
The more I say Floor, the more I lean towards choosing Floor: ) But Felien is also such a beautiful name... Sigh. Haha! I guess I'll just cut the knot once and stop thinking about it.
More reactions are welcome, of course

Make a mix of it, Florien :-p

    Haha good one! But no

Was also just a joke, okay :-)

Félien; I like Floor, but Félien feels more modern. A bit more unique.

We have Féline if it's a girl, so yes Absolutely Félien.

    I think Floortje is nice,
but Floor also sounds like "floor" in English.
I really like Floortje, unfortunately my husband doesn't like Feline or Floortje at all.
I always wanted to decide on the name for my daughters right after we knew the gender at the 20-week ultrasound.
That way I could get used to the name early on.
Now I want to do the same during this pregnancy.
    Good luck with choosing

Yes, it's nice to have the time to let a name sink in, right?
Thanks for your opinions! More opinions are always welcome, of course. The choice is indescribably difficult to make.

Félien is also on my list. Fresh, short, and not very common. Floor isn't that common either (Noor, for example, is more frequent), but it's already quite a 'well-worn' name, even though it's nice. So: Félien!

    Floor!

I'd go for Felien without the hyphen. Much easier, also for the baby themselves.
Besides, I think the hyphen really doesn't add any value...

Not to avoid the pronunciation "Fuh-lien"?
  14. Anonymous Guest #54

I really think Floor is cooler. More stylish!
  15. Emily Guest #55

I would absolutely not pronounce Felien as Fuhlien. I think it makes sense to say Feelien.
  16. Linda #56

I also like Félin, with or without a hyphen. Elin, with an F in front. Names ending in "ien" sound a bit too cute to me instead of sounding cool.
    Floor is also nice!

Elin, super pretty! My boyfriend unfortunately doesn't like it.
And Félien is too fancy. Too bad haha! I don't like fancy names. But I do like the name Félien because I don't find it fancy: ) But maybe I'll reconsider it again. I saw the name Lune here online. Also beautiful. And that way you stay busy haha
  18. Poesh #58

    How far along are you?
Do you still have time to decide, because Félien, Floor, and Lune seem like such different names to me. You might like them all, but I hope you still have plenty of time to decide
  19. Nannie ❤ #59

I think Elin could also work for a boy. What about you guys?
