Hi!
I have a question. Today is my first ultrasound, and I’m super curious.
The lady at the ultrasound clinic said that we won’t be able to hear the little heart today.
However, I’ve read online and heard from people in my circle that it’s definitely possible at 9 weeks.
Can anyone answer this for me? Can we hear it now or not?

Cheers!

Depends on how far along you are. But you can clearly see it blinking, it really looks like a beating heart. Good luck and enjoy it!

    Hi Irma,
    I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant.

My first ultrasound was at 7 weeks and 3 days, and at the dating scan at 10 weeks and 3 days, they heard it perfectly.

Hi Bernice, that sounds so exciting—your first ultrasound!
I called the midwife practice right after I got a positive test.
I got an appointment at 7 weeks.
First ultrasound right away, and they asked the standard questions about whether I drank or smoked?
Then she asked about my missed period date.
And did the scan; I was a bit further along than my calculation suggested, probably due to early implantation.
And then she saw the baby right away.
My husband and I could of course look along, it was super nice to see .
Even though it's my third pregnancy.
It still feels just as beautiful and exciting as with my two girls.
We saw the little heart beating, she showed it to us too.
    That it was the heart.
    So cute.
She said you could only hear it later.
And now you could only see it.
At my second appointment, I got another scan to see how it had grown and to determine the due date.
March 18th came out, the same month I was born
This scan was also very beautiful and special, very clear, little fingers, little hands, little face.
I was 10 weeks pregnant then.
And only at 12 weeks did I come for a check-up to hear the heartbeat for the first time.
It was quite a hassle because the little one kept hiding, according to the midwife.
"He's a tough nut to crack already," she said
But a very regular heartbeat, really cute to hear.
And she told me they only do it that late because it could otherwise be harmful to the baby.
Now I have to wait until November 3rd for the 20-week scan, then we'll also hear the gender.
    So exciting, can't wait.
Well, that gives you maybe a little idea of what you can expect.
Enjoy it, have a great time at your ultrasound appointment
    Greetings, Madelene
