7w3d bleeding - baby intact.

Hi everyone,

I’ve lost quite a bit of blood today, dark red blood.

We were worried right away, and this afternoon we were able to get an ultrasound. We saw that the baby was still intact (heartbeat).

Has anyone on this forum ever had a similar situation where the pregnancy went well and there was a reason for the bleeding?

During the ultrasound, there was no indication of what caused the bleeding.

Best regards, LyDo

    Hi Lydo,

That must have been quite a shock... I'm glad I didn't experience it myself. But I found this on www...
An implantation bleed: a bleeding that occurs when the embryo implants itself in the wall of the .... Only from a gestational age of 7 weeks after your last period can you be sure whether a pregnancy is intact or not....

So I'm thinking it's an implantation bleed... So you saw the little embryo and it's intact, so now just wait until the next ultrasound. Do you already know when you have that??

    Cheers Ju

A friend of mine had that too. They were absolutely shocked, but in the end, a healthy baby girl was born at 40 weeks!

As long as you see the heartbeat, I think everything is fine. There's really all sorts of things that can cause bleeding, and very often they don't find anything anyway.

    Thanks for your reply, Ju,

We have a 9-week ultrasound on June 26.

I really hope it was indeed an implantation bleed.

It was reassuring that the baby was still intact, but the bleeding creates so much uncertainty that waiting for the next ultrasound feels twice as long.

This feeling is also influenced by our previous pregnancy; during that one, we saw a non-viable fetus at 12 weeks and 3 days on the very first ultrasound.

So it was really nice to see a heartbeat on the ultrasound last Monday and today.

    Anke, thanks for your reply.

Fortunately, there are also a lot of positive stories where bleeding occurred but ended with a full-term pregnancy and a healthy baby.

I did have quite some cramping in my lower abdomen, though, before the bleeding.

For now, it's wait and see.

    Hey Lydo,

I also had bleeding at 6 weeks during my previous pregnancy. Since it was the weekend, I went to the ER and had an ultrasound. They told me my baby wasn't alive anymore. No heartbeat was visible on the ultrasound

Eventually, the bleeding stopped completely, so I called my OB-GYN on Monday and had an ultrasound and blood test the next day.

It turned out it was too early to see the heartbeat, and the baby was perfectly fine Apparently, I had a tear in my uterine wall causing the bleeding, so they prescribed bed rest.

And after 9 months, I brought a healthy daughter into the world

Wen, thanks for your reply too.

That was quite a shock, your 6-week ultrasound.

    Fortunately, everything went well.

I saw a clear heartbeat on my 6-week scan (like a flickering light).
We also got to hear the heartbeat, which was a nice experience.

Now we're waiting for the 9-week scan.

The bleeding has stopped and the cramps are gone.

We're still holding on to hope.

Every pregnancy is different, I think the heartbeat starts at different times for everyone For me, it wasn't beating at 6 weeks, but a few days later it was.
Once the bleeding has stopped, I wouldn't worry too much, it's a good sign... it went the same for me.

    Greetings.

I also lost some blood at 6 weeks. It was bright red and quite a lot. I called my OB-GYN right away and was able to come in the next day.
Since I was supposed to be 6 weeks along, they mainly just drew blood. But I really wanted an ultrasound anyway.
I got one, and we saw a beautiful beating heart and even heard the heartbeat. Turns out I was already a week further along than we thought. The bleeding did last a little while longer (about 2 weeks). Meanwhile, I’m in my 34th week now
    Greetings!

    Hi Lydo,

See, you're not alone in this; there are many women with the same item, and that's what's so nice about this site. You just get answers to your questions and concerns.. Have a lovely pregnancy.. Let us know how your 9-week scan went... Don't overthink it (easy for me to say, but well-meaning).

    Have a nice evening.

    Love, Ju

Hi Lydo, same story here. I have to wait until I'm 6 weeks, I think, because I'm currently 5 weeks and 3 days, and I've been bleeding for 2 days now. But I keep feeling something like a little bubble down in my belly, or something similar, as if the little one is moving and it's swollen. I'm still trying to go to the gynecologist tomorrow. I've tried to rest and give my body a break for the little one (if there still is one), but I have sooooo much uncertainty Unfortunately, we can't do anything but wait. I could get stressed and angry at someone else—the gynecologist, hospital, or GP—but it's pointless anyway. I wish you all the best.

    Greetings from Bianca

    Hi,
Had my ultrasound today after a lot of anxiety. Everything was fine.
    Exactly 10 weeks today.
The bleeding is probably caused by the placenta being located near the cervical opening.
According to the midwife, this shouldn't cause much harm.
Unfortunately, the bleeding and cramps are still present.
Thanks for all your responses and experiences.

    Hi there!

I'm 8 weeks pregnant today and had a heavy bleed. I'm supposed to have another ultrasound on Wednesday, but I'm feeling so unsure... I want this so badly! I actually feel pregnant...

    Hi Anonymous,

Oh my, that's not nice at all. It could be implantation bleeding, but it could also be a miscarriage. Have you taken a test just to be sure? If I were you, I'd take one that shows how many weeks pregnant you are (or not).

Let us know how things went on Wednesday. Stay strong...

    Best, Ju
