Hi everyone.
I have a question.
My little girl spent three weeks in the hospital after birth. It was so severe that she wasn't even allowed out of bed. Because the window was on one side, she developed a preferred head position as a result. It was so chronic for her that she refused to look to the other side. This caused a flattening. Now, two months later, we're still working hard to get rid of it... Tummy time, turning her head while sleeping, toys on the non-preferred side, etc. But now I notice little difference. There is some progress in her preference, but not in the flattening. Will that flattening ever get better?

That's so sad! I'd personally make an appointment with a good osteopath who specializes in babies/children. They can often help the preferred head position disappear in a gentle/soft way through a few treatments. Good luck!

My son also had a strong preference for one position, so we went to a pediatric physiotherapist. Now, three months later, there’s hardly any sign of his flattening or positional preference left. The physiotherapist also checks whether the preference is affecting the child’s motor development, which is really reassuring. Good luck!
