Baby's head is lagging behind in growth, 29 weeks pregnant

Hi everyone,

I went to the AMC today because my girl is lagging in growth. Her belly is still on the lower curve, but her head is clearly behind, about three weeks. The OB is worried but can't say what it might be yet, and it'll remain uncertain until delivery. I'm terribly anxious, has anyone experienced this before??

    Hi Marieke,

That’s quite a shock! Especially if a gynecologist is worried, you should definitely go and hear what they have to say.

Our son’s head also lagged behind in growth. I think it was about 3 weeks too. At 33 weeks of pregnancy, we had to go to the gynecologist. We were under weekly supervision there. Eventually, our son was born at 41.2 weeks. With his 3000 grams and 49 cm, he was indeed a little one with a cute head, but perfectly healthy! All the worries were for nothing. Our son still has a nice, lovely head. I actually find that quite beautiful.

I hope it turns out okay for you too. Let me know how it goes?

    Xx

That's nice to hear. Thanks! I'll get back to you in two weeks. And they want to do an amniocentesis at 33 weeks. Also quite nerve-wracking. The gynecologist said it will remain uncertain until delivery... Not a nice thought..

    Xx
