Reset/lutenyl... does anyone recognize this?

Hi, I've been reading along on various topics for the past few months but haven't found my story anywhere. Maybe you guys can help me out. We've been trying for a baby for about a year now, but unfortunately, it hasn't gone as smoothly as hoped. Meanwhile, my sister-in-law, nine friends, and five colleagues have all gotten pregnant or given birth without any complications... After ten years of taking the pill, I stopped taking that mess and ended up with quite long cycles (40 to 45 days), but I comforted myself with the thought that at least I had something. However, in January, my period stopped completely. After three months, I went to the GP who did various blood tests. Everything was super, except for my progesterone, which meant I apparently wasn't ovulating. She also thought I was a bit overweight (75kg for 1m70) while I really didn't feel that fat. She couldn't do anything then and I had to wait. It wasn't until the sixth month that I was allowed to get medication. So in the following months, I started walking, since I was already eating healthily anyway. So now in July, I weighed 69kg, but unfortunately, I still hadn't had my period. I then got Lutenyl from the GP. Take one pill for 10 days. I really felt bad on those pills. Now we're about a week after the last pill and I did indeed first have some brown discharge and now two days of light period. The GP hopes that I'll get 'reset' with this and start making my own cycles again. What do you think? My partner and I have Christmas in mind as the next date (because I do that too, thinking 'by then I'll probably be pregnant'... But I actually have a bad feeling about it. And I know that compared to many, I maybe shouldn't complain, but without ovulation, it makes me so discouraged...

Can I ask how old you are?

    I don't think it's the weight.

Maybe you're too focused on it and should try to let go a bit, even though that's hard.

    I'm 25, so I don't think that's the problem either :-)

No, I don't think so either.

You could wait and see if things get better, or maybe try ovulation tests so you know earlier if you're ovulating.

Are you really going to stop then, go back on the pill or something, or will you just be less focused on it?

The weird thing is that I wasn't prescribed Lutenyl as contraception. Apparently, it contains a lot of progesterone, and my doctor wants to use it to make up for the current deficiency. So I'm not taking it and I hope I won't have to take it again. I also find Lutenyl quite strange, but supposedly it's supposed to 'reset' me. That's why I'm asking here, because I find the whole situation quite odd. So basically, I haven't had ovulation since January... And therefore no chance of pregnancy either...

I don't know about that. Would you not call another doctor and ask what they would do?

I looked it up and it says it's really for women who have problems with their cycle.

Thank you so much for looking up so much... I found the leaflet very brief, and on the internet I only seem to find it as contraception. Usually, I don't ask many questions about what the doctor suggests; I've trusted them since I was a kid. She's a woman with two kids of her own who is really very caring, so she probably means well. I'm thinking of calling a gynecologist this week to make an appointment, but those waiting times are always so huge...

    Hi,
I’ve also started taking lutynil. I have to take it for 2 weeks, then stop for 2 weeks, and then go back to it until it’s finished... because of the same symptoms. May I ask how it went for you?
My husband and I really want a baby, but I’m really scared that it won’t happen
My cycle is always different; sometimes it even takes 70 days before I get my period again...

Are you taking a multivitamin with a good dose of zinc? I've noticed that since I started taking it, I've had slightly shorter cycles, but what really stands out is that I skipped my mid-cycle bleeding! Zinc contributes to good hormone balance, and I strongly suspect it's working directly for me. I only started the multivitamin last month, and it was my first cycle without mid-cycle bleeding. Who knows, it might help you get your hormones in balance and thus kickstart a decent cycle.

Because I’ve had heavy bleeding for two weeks now (I’m 57 and not yet in menopause, still active according to blood tests), I decided to drop by the gynecologist after all. My regular one was off for a week, so I saw the on-call gyn. He found a 2.6 cm cyst on my ovary and prescribed Lutinyl. I’m supposed to take it for 14 days, two pills a day. We’re on day 8 now, and I feel so awful. It’s clearly the pills. I’ve also been dealing with varicose veins since starting them. I can’t reach my GP or gyn right now, and calling her on her mobile feels a bit pushy. I really want to stop taking it. Has anyone else experienced this if they stopped? I assume I’ll just get my period again, but yeah, at my age... periods aren’t regular anymore anyway. I’ve got an appointment with the gyn in two months anyway. Would love to hear your experiences!
