38 and pregnant

Yvonne
I'm Yvonne. Mother of two and pregnant with my third child. My youngest is now 14 and we really wanted another child. This has worked out too. In two weeks, we have our first check-up and want to wait until then to tell people. Now I'm a bit scared of the reaction because I'm already 38. Does anyone have experience with this?

Why be afraid of other people's reactions? You really want your baby to be what matters. People always have an opinion; you can't live by that. My mom gave birth to my little brother at 38; I was 13. The bond between my parents and my brother, and between me and my brother, is unbreakable. Congratulations on your pregnancy Enjoy the little miracle in your belly and good luck/have fun at the ultrasound in two weeks.

Thank you so much, Chantie. Yes, you're right, I shouldn't let it bother me too much, and who knows, maybe it'll all work out fine and I'll get things in my head sorted out.
My kids find it really fun too.
    Thanks for the encouragement!

As far as I know, my mom never got any negative comments. The only thing I remember is that it surprised some people, since my brother and I were already independent, so my parents had more time for themselves and could start fresh with a little one.

And I'm 36 myself, and my daughter (first baby) is just 6 weeks old. What must people think about that then ;-)

Yeah, I also think that’s what people will say, like, “Where do you start again with another baby?” But anyway, I’m really happy about it, and my husband and kids are too, so that’s what matters most. But how nice, you’ve just become a mom. Congratulations!

Hi! I'll also be 38 when I have the baby, and I already have three older kids aged 11, 16, and 19, so this really is a late addition. It wasn't exactly planned, but we're so happy about it. And if I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about what others think. A new little one brings so much joy and new life into the family. It's wonderful to have such a tiny little one again. My kids can't wait!
