Hi everyone, I'm 37 weeks pregnant with our first daughter today. I've been sleeping poorly for 2 weeks and have stomach cramps every night! According to the gynecologist, she's already fully engaged and ready to start. I've had hardening of the abdomen for a long time now ("sometimes painful, sometimes annoying" and really suffer from restless bowels. Every evening when I go to bed, I have trouble falling asleep because of the stomach cramps, and I wake up in the middle of the night from them! Is it normal to have so much stomach pain and cramping, or is this a sign that labor is starting?

One person might have more discomfort from Braxton Hicks contractions than another, and it can indeed be a sign that labor is approaching. Rest and warmth can help ease the pain. Also, elevating your feet above your belly and drinking water is said to help.
Strength and hopefully your delivery is on its way!
