Drinking too little

Hi ladies,

I was wondering if there are other women here who have trouble drinking enough. I usually drink way too little because I don't really think about it; I only start drinking when I actually feel thirsty (which is already too late).

This has always been a problem, but now that I'm pregnant, I'm getting worried. I try my best to pay attention, but I quickly fall back into the old pattern. Can my baby get sick from this? I'm quite worried about it...

For example, this morning I only had one glass, and in the afternoon at 4 o'clock I thought, "Oh, I really need to start drinking again." So I've now had 3 large glasses, but that's still way too little...

I think if you take vitamins specifically for pregnancy, it really helps prevent deficiencies for both you and the baby.
I drank extra kiwi juice and other healthy, organic juices and smoothies, all consciously for the baby.
Otherwise, try reminding yourself that the baby needs enough fluids,
and so does your body, to provide the baby with all the good stuff
    and ensure healthy development.
Keep that in mind each time, and it might help you remember to drink enough.
Make a pact with yourself, like deciding to drink more smoothies specifically for the vitamins, at certain times when you're doing something.
Just make a pact with yourself, and it becomes a habit naturally.
For me, this was really conscious during both my pregnancies. I thought, "I need extra vitamins," so I drank smoothies and other organic fruit juices for the baby's health.
That way, I always kept in mind that I had to drink regularly.
By the way, I continued this after giving birth,
especially when giving breast milk to both my girls.
I drank extra glasses of juice for the breast milk.
After 7 months of breastfeeding, I stopped right away and drank less again.
So I really did it purely for my girls.
By the way, avoid soda with carbonation
or caffeine, as it can make the baby restless.
And carbonation in lemonade seems to remove vitamins from your food.

Oh yes, and just a little note: if you're trying to change this now and make a commitment to yourself like this, there's no harm done to the baby yet.
As long as you try to change it in the future
Don't worry, it's already good that you're aware of it now and want to change.

Yeah, because of heartburn and all those lovely little ailments, I’m actually only drinking plain water now. Fruit juices, soda, and those kinds of drinks just make me feel worse..

Now, drinking water isn’t my favorite, so it doesn’t really help. I do try to really remember and use bottles to get through as much as possible in a day... But I still forget too often. It’s really a problem I’ve had since I was little, so it’s very hard to break the habit..

I’ll really have to find something to break that vicious cycle.. I guess I’ll start using alarms or something haha!

Swallow the vitamins, so I hope it really helps for the baby.

Hi Roos, it's good that you're taking vitamins along with it because nowadays you don't get enough and sufficient vitamins and minerals from food alone. For that, you'd need to eat very varied and a lot, which is almost an impossible task, hence why extra vitamins are really good. Unfortunately, our food is no longer as sufficient as food used to be in the past.

Oh, that's tricky then. Maybe try keeping a diary or writing in a notebook what you've drunk throughout the day, and then cross off what you've had. And yes, a good idea with the alarms. I'd ask for something homeopathic for your heartburn, and then drink smoothies and fruit juices.

Leave the water for now because water doesn't contain the vitamins of organic fruit juice. So maybe just fluids, natural water, but it's important to drink things with vitamins too, like smoothies, kiwi juice, orange juice, pure stuff like that. You can drink water alongside it occasionally, but if you do, choose mineral water like Barleduk. I personally don't like water at all; it even makes me hungry. I never drink water at home, and my kids don't either. I think that's fine; you can't like everything, and kids have their own tastes.

Much to my husband's annoyance, he's the only one who drinks water here But anyway, I'd just put the water aside and try drinking the other stuff. My oldest has terrible heartburn too. Towards the end, I took Renée.

    Greetings, Madelene

And you really like drinking tea?
Then maybe it's an idea to start drinking it?
It's also water, you get fluids that way too.
It's water but with a little flavor.
I drank tea instead of water
