Introductions
Hi!
Hi!
My name is Femke, I'm 23 now. My boyfriend and I have been together for 8 years and after much deliberation, we've finally decided to try for a baby.
Some more info about me and my situation.
In 2012, after blood tests, I was told I have Type 1 diabetes. After a year, I switched from insulin injections to an insulin pump, which has helped me manage it a bit better. Unfortunately, it's still not great, and I still get high blood sugar levels regularly. I've also been hospitalized several times over the past 3 years because of this.
As if that wasn't enough, a year later I was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, which means my ligaments don't keep my joints in place, so everything shifts around.
With this diagnosis, I was also told that due to permanent pelvic instability and the deterioration of my body, I only have until I'm 28 to have my own children. After that, it's not allowed anymore because the risks would be too high.
Because my diabetes isn't completely stable yet and Ehlers-Danlos already carries risks on its own, we hesitated for a long time... but now we've finally decided to go for it!
The dream is stronger than the negative misery!
