Hi ladies!

Are there any other people who are doing or have done IVF, PGD, or ICSI?
I'm currently in my first cycle, 5 weeks pregnant, and really nervous.

Hi, yes, I had ICSI. And I'm already over 33 weeks along, so everything should go well
I was really nervous about it myself. Have you had your first ultrasound yet??

    Hi!

No, next week only. I was so nervous for my first treatment. It was my 3rd pregnancy; the first two didn't work out the natural way because I have a chromosomal abnormality.

At which treatment number did it work for you?

Also 3x pregnant, 2x naturally, unfortunately 2x miscarriage probably due to poor sperm quality. Then 1x ICSI and immediately pregnant never expected to have so much luck. Do you also use Utrogestan for extra support?

Oh, was it really that intense for you with that puncture too?
Yeah, for 3 weeks after those 2 waiting weeks I was allowed to stop. Luckily, what a nasty mess it was. I know that wasn't the worst part, but everything was soaked, whether I wore a pad or not.

Did you also have such a bloated belly at the beginning of those hormones? I looked like I was 6 months pregnant. My intestines were just sooo active.

The puncture was a total disaster So, was it the same for you? I apparently have flexible ovaries that went flying in all directions. So they had to press really hard on my belly to get them into the right position, and the shell of my follicles seems pretty hard, so the puncturing didn't go as it should. After the puncture, I thought, never again! But after a few days, you forget it, and I found myself thinking, if it doesn't work this time, I'll do it again. Just because the desire for a child is so huge Luckily, I could also stop taking Utro after the first ultrasound. Indeed, really messy stuff. I wanted to wait until 8 weeks for my first ultrasound since I definitely wanted to see a heartbeat and give my body some rest after all those injections and tests etc. So I used that mess for a while. I didn't have any issues with my intestines at first. But you hear that often, so it's all part of it

Yeah, there were 2 before me and one of them screamed the whole time, so I got sent to a room. For the rest, nothing was said, so I just lay there waiting, thinking "Hello, what's going to happen now?" I wasn't helped until an hour later than planned. I was really upset because of the woman before me. During the puncture, they didn't tell me I'd get 2 needles in my uterus. I found that really painful. The actual puncturing was fine though; by then I was already pretty stoned from the morphine or valium.
I did have quite a lot of pain afterwards. I couldn't walk straight for the first 2 days.

Which hospital are you at? I'm in Amsterdam.

The hospital is in Alkmaar, but the repositioning was done at the VU because they don't do that in Alkmaar. Before the puncture, I got an injection in my butt with some kind of stuff and a half blue pill that I had no idea what it was either, but I didn't notice anything at all After the puncture, I went home and lay in bed, where I slept for hours. Luckily, by evening it was already better.

I got a shot of morphine, 1 Valium, and 2 paracetamol. I had mentioned that because of my adrenaline, nothing really kicks in until I step out the door (even at the dentist). This was beforehand, and they said they’d explain everything to me before. But nope, they gave me my meds about 10 minutes before the puncture. Sure enough, after the puncture, I started laughing at everyone because I was so high from all that stuff. On the way home, I got so dizzy—I was so glad to feel my bed. I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks, so I’m curious to see!

Did you definitely have your ultrasound this week? Let me know how it went??? Have fun peeking at your little one :-) !

So sweet that you thought of him! He was born yesterday, and yes, 7 weeks and 1 day old, and his little heart was beating so beautifully. In two weeks, we can come back again

Glad you had a nice ultrasound! It's always such a relief, especially when you see the little heart beating strong and steady :-) A few more weeks and you'll hear it too, and that's truly the most beautiful sound you'll ever hear!! At least that's what I thought :-) :-)

Hope in two weeks we'll have another ultrasound, but this time at a midwife in the hospital, so we'll also find out if we can have our own midwife.
