Finding a regular babysitter.

I found the cutest babysitter in the world through a really simple ad in a neighborhood newsletter. Now my kids are 19, 17, and 15, and of course they don’t need a babysitter anymore. But she’s still their aunt!

Thanks, that's indeed a nice tip to start with.
Can you also share a bit about how you 'selected'? Or did you mostly go by your gut feeling?

    I'm a nanny myself

    Hi there,

I've been a babysitter for over 8 years now.
The first family I started with now has 3 kids.
When I came for the interview, they were still eating. While they were eating, the little girl started crying. I asked if I could hold her for a bit so they could eat in peace.
As soon as I picked her up, she calmed down almost immediately. Later on, that was the reason they felt they could trust me.
Now, over 8 years later, I'm still with them, and I'm having a blast.
I'm crazy about those kids, and they are crazy about me too.

    - So I'd say, see how they react to the little one.
    - Listen to your gut feeling.
    - Ask for references and check them if you feel like it.

I hope this helps you out!

    Best regards,
    Nicolette Matse

    Hey ladies,

Just letting you know that we've found a regular babysitter. It's the eldest daughter of our foster mom.
My little boy often colors with her or does other things when I pick him up; his eyes sparkle with mischief when he sees her.
So she's become a familiar person, they already know each other, and that makes it easier to leave him with her with a peace of mind.
    Thanks!

www.oudermatch.nl is a handy site to find someone. It has both babysitters and babysitters listed.

Search by your own region and find a nice babysitter.

That's so nice that you're sharing your experiences too! Finding babysitters is indeed not always easy. I have high hopes that you'll find someone lovely quickly through those sites, whether nearby or further away—it really depends on what you're looking for. Good luck with your search!
