Do you eat your sandwiches with or without the crust?

AM
I just started with a crust to find out..
they do stuff like that anyway
and it makes them appreciate the crusts, so later on you have less chance that your baby won't 'like' the crusts.

Around that age, I myself didn't give them crusts at first. They'd get a bit of bread crust later on just to have something extra to chew on. They'll naturally start eating those crusts too, but it's nice that they can gradually get used to eating instead of choking badly on the first bite and maybe getting scared by it.

My experience is that choking happens whether you feed them with or without crusts... and that they can actually enjoy chewing on a bread crust... it softens more than a piece of bread without crust, and the crumbs stick more to the roof of the mouth, which can make you feel like you're going to gag ; )

Okay, I'll try with crusts tomorrow then. She's not really eating the bread yet. She puts it in her mouth and gnaws on it a bit, but usually doesn't get much in. But that's not a big deal at 7 months, right?

No, that's not a big deal. It's all about discovering. Soon she'll start chewing more and sucking, and bread will naturally come into the picture. Then you'll also start reducing the bottle and gradually introducing bread, etc. Good luck.

We always gave her crusts here, and often straight from the freezer (especially when teething was going on, then the cold provided some relief). Also later, as a toddler and preschooler, she always had crusts - she had a short 'crust refusal period', but that's now (2½) over.
