After the HSG, hoping for pregnancy... otherwise, IUI.

Hi!

I got pregnant in the month of my HSG! I don't know if that was really the cause, but my gynecologist told me that the chances are indeed increased by it.

You don't need to worry about the hormones for IUI, I don't know what you'd get but the medication itself is manageable.
What makes IUI tough are the regular follicle scans and the disappointments when it doesn't work out. (I haven't had an IUI but the preparatory phase is the same for OI)

IUI combined with the HSG seems to increase the chances even more, so I wouldn't wait too long with it. I believe the HSG gives an increased chance for 3 or 6 months.

Good luck and hope IUI won't be necessary.

Actually, the combination of IUI and HSG does make sense. I’m not saying this because a doctor told me, but it seems logical to me!
The fallopian tubes are very open, so once fertilization has occurred, there are no obstacles on the way back to the uterus and within the uterus itself. Of course, fertilization needs to happen first, and unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do to increase the chances of that.

    Wishing you lots of success!

    Xx

Hi hi! I also had an HSG last Tuesday. It hurt incredibly for me.. The doctor said there were some adhesions and he had to apply some pressure (which I definitely felt) and then they carefully went through it and two visible fallopian tubes appeared I had an oil-based HSG, so that the fallopian tubes would stay open nicely. I was looking for experiences because you often read that women get pregnant spontaneously after an HSG.
It's nice to read that it worked out for you afterwards, crumb! I hope I get that luck too
puksimonse how are you doing now? Have you started with IUI?

Hi everyone. I had the HSG test yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn't find it very pleasant. The right fallopian tube was clear, but the left one was blocked. They flushed it out now. I found it extremely painful. The doctor told us we could start trying as soon as I felt up to it. I started trying that same evening, but I did have some light bleeding. Who has had good experiences after an HSG? And did you get pregnant quickly afterwards? Next month I'm starting with Gonal-F injections. Lots of love, Micha

    Hi ladies,
I’ve got a quick question too.
I’m having an HSG test next Monday afternoon,
but I’m also fertile that week.
So could I already be pregnant by then?

    Hi Anoniem,

The HSG scan is usually done before ovulation, so yes; there's a chance that you were indeed fertile that week and could get pregnant!
That was the case here and I got pregnant that same cycle.

    Good luck

    Hey crumb!
Great that you replied, so I know we’ll have to do some serious renovations next Monday after the HSG test.
And congratulations to you both in advance!
I’m really curious what the HSG test will reveal.

    Hi hi
I also had an HSG test and everything looked fine.. unfortunately no pregnancy,
A friend of mine did get pregnant after an HSG test so it can happen.
We also wanted to try on our own first before going straight to IUI with hormones, which I didn't really feel comfortable with.. unfortunately, pregnancy didn't happen for us either.
Now I've started with hormones anyway, and tonight I'll be giving myself my 3rd injection. I'm still a bit nervous about it all.
Take it easy and do what feels right for you, that's what matters most!
    Love and hugs,
    Nora

I had an HSG test last Tuesday. Everything went really well, almost painless. Half an hour later they took an X-ray of my abdomen, and the doctor said the contrast fluid wasn't spreading that well, so I'm a bit worried. I have an appointment on Wednesday to get the results. I also got antibiotics. What could it be? Has anyone else heard this after the X-ray?

    Best, Sofia

Hi ladies, I have a cervical smear test coming up on Tuesday.. I'm quite dreading it..

Quick question: is it better to wait a few days before doing any chores? Or do it the same evening?

(I'll be on day 6 of my cycle on Tuesday)

I’d wait a bit with that, it can be quite sensitive. Besides, the HSG is generally (quite) before ovulation, so sex isn’t really useful either..!

Good luck, hopefully it’ll be okay for you!

I also recently had an HSG... at first glance, it looked OK, said the doctor.
Next week I'll get the results...
It was a bit unpleasant... I had some bleeding for about 3 days afterward, nothing more.

It wasn't as bad as I thought .. but I did have to swallow hard with that balloon.

Yeah, we're also just waiting a bit. I have to say it's quite sensitive and I still have some stomach pain, so it doesn't need to happen for me just yet..

Just had an HSG. Found the fluid painful. Now hoping for a pregnancy. So doing a lot of housework.

    What is IUI then?
  15. Verwijderd ! #16

Oh, you mean... what a bummer! But luckily, you've got that behind you. Yes, exactly. We're in the same boat, haha. The first month didn't work out unfortunately... still two more cycles to go, and if nothing comes of it, we'll start the treatment process.
