They told me that a boy is often easier to distinguish. That’s why they’re more often right when predicting a boy than a girl.

    Hi there!
I had a prenatal scan yesterday at 14 weeks and 3 days. They said it’s a girl, but I really see that the middle stripe is sticking out. So I’m really doubting! Does anyone here know more about this?

14 weeks is still really early, I think. I had mine at 18 weeks, and that was already on the early side. I'm afraid you'll just have to wait a little longer.

I wouldn't know how it came out so wrong with you guys... I'm from Suriname and the ultrasounds I had during my daughter were accurate, and the ones during my son were accurate too!! If I'm not allowed to reveal, I'm now 18 weeks pregnant again for a boy.

And what did it end up being??
  6. shirley Guest #26

I had an ultrasound today, and they said I'm having a girl, but it wasn't very clear. The baby had its legs closed, and I didn't see the three lines either.

We found out at 17.4 weeks that we were having a girl, clearly three stripes.
It took some getting used to, my first daughter sadly passed away at birth.
After three weeks, I got used to it and was happy to have a daughter again, but now it turns out there's a little penis after all.
I don't know what to think anymore.

I had an ultrasound at 14 weeks and 3 days, and according to the midwife, it’s 100% certain that it’s a girl.
Is it already that clear at 14 weeks?

That sounds really scary to me. Imagine thinking you're going to have a boy, and then suddenly it turns out to be a girl. I wouldn't like that at all. You're basically preparing yourself for a boy, after all. Luckily, it never happened to us that they got it wrong. With both my princesses, at the 20-week scan, they clearly said it would be a girl. With the second one, she said, "I can't really make any other guess," and with the first one, she said, "I see two little months, a girl." Both times, they were right. I hope they get it right again with this pregnancy at the 20-week scan, but I'm just assuming they'll see it correctly again

At my 20-week ultrasound, they said it's a girl, but I'm hoping it's a boy because I already have two girls. Just have to wait until the birth.

They get the gender wrong quite often, even with good equipment. And of course, it also depends on the sonographer—how good or careful they are. It’s still human work. For them, it’s basically just a guess... With me, at 20 weeks, it was definitely a girl, but now at 30 weeks, the midwife (so not even a trained sonographer) said it was a boy and couldn’t understand how they could have missed it before.

Now that I'm reading this, I'm not sure if I want to know. My partner says they have good equipment nowadays, so they'll definitely see it clearly. Any advice?

    Hi!
It was the same with two of my friends! Pregnant with a girl and suddenly it turned out to be a boy!
I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant. The gynecologist told us at 18 weeks with 100% certainty that it was a boy, and even showed us, but I didn't see anything at all ;D Hopefully, it's still a boy when we go back for the check-up on Friday. I've already started making baptism sugar, and the boy's name is printed on everything.

    I don't see a photo
  15. Anonymous Guest #35

    hahaha indeed...

I have my 20-week ultrasound on April 16th, but now I'm wondering if I even want to know wahahaha,...

I actually thought they wouldn't really get it wrong anymore these days..

    but apparently

I'm 20.1 weeks pregnant, had 20 weeks with 19 weeks. The midwife said it's a boy and also gave me a photo on USB. You can really see something sticking out. But I still get the feeling that it's not right. Very weird. Has anyone else experienced something like this?
  17. Anonymous Guest #37

I thought it was mostly because I really wanted a girl, Lina. But with a boy, it's usually fine. It's more common that they think it's a girl, but then the little penis is a bit hidden between the legs, so it turns out to be a boy later on.
  18. Nini85 #38

Oh yes! I had the same thing with my second son. At the 17-week scan they said it was a boy, but at the 20-week scan the lady was 100% sure it was a girl. So we had to come back to the scan because they'd "seen it wrong", but there really was something between the legs! And meanwhile our boy is already 5.5. So it still happens sometimes
