Hi everyone,
I’d like to introduce myself. I’m a young girl of 20, and I’ve been trying to conceive with my boyfriend. My boyfriend is 27 and has a good income. I’m still studying and will finish my education in about six months. Now you might be wondering, why are we thinking about kids so early? Well, I have fertility issues. I have very little uterine lining, which makes getting pregnant difficult. My mom has the same problem, and it took her 9 years to have her first child and 5 years for the second. My boyfriend and I are doing well together, live together, and can afford it. We stopped taking the pill almost a year ago so that a pregnancy would be welcome. Are there any people here who also consciously chose to have kids so early?

Greetings!

I was 22 when our oldest was born, and this was a conscious choice for us. I had just started working and had completed my HBO degree, and many people thought it was unplanned.

Our reason for starting young was that I can work until 65, but I won't be able to have children until that age. I actually ended up stopping work altogether when our oldest was born, and I haven't regretted it for a single moment. I can pour all my time and energy into our boys, and I also have my own practice a few days a week. When the youngest starts school next year, I'll have time again to work and study (or maybe sneak in a third... ). In short: choose what you stand for and what feels right for you. I can imagine that if it takes you a long time to get pregnant, you'd choose to start as early as possible. I wish you lots of success and hope you'll soon be able to share that you're pregnant!
