Hi there,
I have a question and I really hope someone can/wants to give me an answer to help ease my mind. Here’s my story first:
I’ve been with my boyfriend for 10 years now. We have a lovely house and both have good jobs. I’m 25 and have never had another partner, and I really wanted to become a young mom.
A year and a half ago, I decided to stop taking the pill, hoping a miracle would happen. But it didn’t. After a year of no period, I went to the gynecologist. They diagnosed me with a hormonal disorder and said the chance of getting pregnant without hormone treatment was zero. I accepted it, thinking I’m still so young, it’ll happen eventually.
Six months ago, my boyfriend said he didn’t know if he wanted to continue anymore. We’d been together since we were 15, so I understood his feelings. We decided to take some space but still see each other as friends if we wanted to. We also still had sex occasionally over that half-year (unprotected).
Four months ago, I met a guy through a friend. We had a nice connection, went on a few dates, and on January 16th we slept together. It was very brief, and we used protection. Eventually, I got really sad and realized I missed my boyfriend too much. So, on January 13th and 17th, I had unprotected sex with my ex-boyfriend. A week later, my boyfriend realized he felt the same way, and we’ve been back together for over 3 months now.
On January 31st, I found out I was pregnant. I’m obviously very happy because it happened so spontaneously, but I’ve also been doubting. After the dating scan, I’m now over 12 weeks pregnant. According to my midwife, I ovulated around or on January 15th.
Now I’m feeling insecure, but surely it has to be my current boyfriend’s child, right? I also stayed in touch with the guy I had sex with once. He also mentioned that the encounter was very brief and he didn’t feel or see that the condom broke.
..... I’m so happy but at the same time feel so awful. I hope someone here knows more about this than I do!
