    Thanks...

It is indeed also from English... where Robin is a girl's name.

I totally get the reactions here. When I see a boy named Robin, I have more or less the same feeling. In my head, it really feels more like a girl's name. In Dutch, it's just different. I've got quite a few in my class: in Belgium, Robin is quite popular, and here they're all boys.

I think Floor is really much prettier.
    Good luck with your choice
    Greetings, Donna

Hi, I personally think Floor is more beautiful.
    Greetings, Kristy

I’d also go with Floor.. I don’t think Robin is really a beautiful name, not even for a boy.. I find it a bit cheesy, to be honest.. but it’s ultimately your choice .. good luck!

I don't really like either of them. I think Robin is too boyish and Floor is too common (it comes up so often). What I do like is Floortje—it doesn't come up super often and it's superior!!
  7. Tamara Guest #27

    Absolutely Robin!
Floor is indeed quite common. Robin is tough but smooth. I actually find it really nice for a girl.

Robin is really a boy's name (think of Robin Bood). The female version is Robine.

The only reason Robin is now given to girls is because it has been adopted from America.
  9. ii Guest #29

In England, Robin is indeed a boy's name, but in America, not always.
  10. Floortje #30

    Floor, of course

I also think Robin is a nice name for girls. Tough and feminine at the same time. I know a few teenagers with that name, so I'm used to it.
Floor is also really nice, but I think the English meaning is a pity.

Robin is a boy's name, even in English. Only those crazy Americans...

I think Robin is super beautiful, cheerful, and tough for a girl, and definitely not ordinary!
I think it sounds much more beautiful than Floor!
  14. Hummel Guest #34

But it remains a boy's name...
  15. Anonymous Guest #35

Robin!!! Really beautiful and strong. If my nephew wasn't already named Robin, I would have named my daughter that!
  16. Lotte Guest #36

Robin can be for a girl and for a boy!! Case closed
    .
I personally think Robin is cooler for a girl than Floor. I find Floor a bit cheesy.
  17. Monkey #37

Floor, my oldest brother is named Robin
  18. Linda #38

I think Robin is really cool! Nice name, definitely for a girl too. Tough!
I find Floor a bit boring...

I'm also really torn about the name Robin for a girl... (5 months pregnant)
I think it's beautiful and cool, and you don't hear it too much, it's totally fine for a girl!
But on the other hand, I'm afraid that everyone will assume it's a boy...and that she might get teased because of it...although that could happen with other names too...
Robin is gender-neutral, like so many names like "Renee, Puck, Marley...
Still, you often have a more specific girl/boy image in mind for them
Yeah...I'm also experiencing serious name stress...

I know a boy named Flor, pronounced just like Floor, so nowadays it doesn't matter anymore if it's a boy's or girl's name haha. I've had two Robins in my class, and they were both girls. One was a sweet, cute girl, and the other was like a real country girl haha. So it really doesn't matter what you choose, and with all the unique names these days, no one will even bat an eye if a girl or boy is named Floor or Robin.
